Well, that was certainly strange. Was helping @LunarPhoenix link her PC with WhatsApp. I’ve done this a couple times on my own computer with no problems. So, I type in the phone number, it gives me the code. I’m about to give it to her when she opens WhatsApp on the iPhone and it asks her for her password. As soon as she enters it, I get a “Something has gone wrong” error. I hit OK, try re-entering the number, even uninstall and reinstall the app on the computer, and it’s still not working. Yet when we did the Scan QR code option, that worked fine. Glad we got it working, but the process took far longer than it should have. Thankfully, we were able to get it to work, but for those who can’t scan QR codes for whatever reason, this behavior could be a problem. #whatsapp #meta #A11Y

People really can not comprehend what life for me is like, for all the similarities between many of us, we all have a truly unique experience, Some of us live in full out hell, from the very first breath we take, our lives are not just trying to climb an un-climbable mountain, but having to do so under constant fire, the world it's self is a dark desolate wasteland that is incredibly unforgiving to life it's self, and when you introduce society that is indifferent to your personal trials, issues and barriers, life it's self becomes an overwhelming war that your faced to fight not just each day, but with every step and breath you take, become disabled and thrust into poverty, and you will soon find the majority of what is supposed to be a community of humanity simply does not exist, you fight to eat each day, you struggle to keep clean, if by chance you manage to keep a roof, your battle is even harder, because you simply can't manage the basics for the resources of day to day life many take for granted are not there, add constant pain, a failing and aging body, a mind that is so overwhelmed by time that often you struggle to see, far too long I have had to beg just to barely exist on any given day, for if only the world would hear what I have to say, and actually come together and help me raise my ultimate goal, within the hours of a single day, then not only could this broken man live, and care for himself, but very much within the realm of possibility I could create a life in where I could offer help and respite to those in need like me, but people you all see are far from loving and compassionate to me, no they rather I disappear deep within my despair, I am below the well of desperation, but I refuse to fight for my right and chance at life, and for those like me, I fight for you as well, within my last true ability in life I put into words the only fight I have, the only way to build beyond disparity, for those who wonder why you do not do more, this is all that is left within my soul to do, for if you cared you would pick my cross to bare and offer me some respite so I may still have more chance to fight;

I kinda wish "online" conferences, tradeshows, and conventions were the norm for digital topics. Like an in person conference for physical goods makes some sense to me. But for digital experiences, a digital conference seems ideal. It changes logistics, but I'm talking about the attendee experience.
There was an in person conference I was slated to attend that pivoted on a dime to be a fully remote conference when the pandemic hit. I was skeptical but it proved to be a superior experience for me on multiple fronts:
1. I was able to attend more panels and workshops because i wasnt constrained by time and physics. If two topics were happening in the same time slot i could attend both. If i needed to eat lunch i could make a sandwich at home while tuning in rather than losing time at a restaurant or in a vendor line. If i missed the live portion, presenters were often still in their digital spaces long after to engage with.
2. More of the content was made available to review later by default because all of the presenters ended up digitizing their presentations more thoroughly. More digital hand outs with more depth since they didnt have to manage physical copies.
3. Easier on my health. I ate better and at a more predictable pace, slept at more reasonable times, and was more alert due to no fatigue from walking all day.
4. More affordable. I didn't have to contend with the expense of passport, lodging, transportation, dining out, or all the incidentals that come with travel. And its physical proximety was no longer a barrier to attending.
5. I saw more brands and orgs and engaged better. In a physical space I may or may not make it to someone's booth or table. I might overlook it due to its location or get pulled away before i get there or bail once im tired. I may not be willing to wait in line. In digital form i was able to visit and notice every presenter or org and get quality time.
6. More presentations had closed captioning and localization. No presentations were "too full" for a "fire hazard". Didn't have to worry about catching "con crud". And not having to worry about having my civil or human rights violated from the conference being physically located in a territory with hostile laws or customs.
The logistics are different for organizers and presenters. But as an attendee, I found digital conferences to be fantastic.

"[I]ronically, Trump’s attacks on BRICS countries have only strengthened BRICS, and encouraged more and more countries to join the Global South-led organization.
Trump has blatantly meddled in the internal affairs of Brazil, the “B” in BRICS. Trump is a close ally of Brazil’s far-right former leader, Jair Bolsonaro. To hurt its current left-wing president, Lula da Silva, Trump imposed 50% tariffs on the South American nation.
This has resulted in Brazil deepening its already close ties with China. And President Lula is publicly calling for BRICS countries to create alternatives to the US dollar.
Trump’s aggression is clearly backfiring.
Another example of this is how the US president has treated India, which is the “I” in BRICS.
For years, the US government has pursued a strategy of trying to ally with India against China, as part of an attempt to divide BRICS and isolate Beijing.
In recent years, especially under right-wing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India had gradually moved closer to the United States.
But in his second term as president, Trump has attacked India, threatening it with 50% tariffs, one of the highest rates in the world.
Trump apparently thinks that India has no choice but to go along with whatever the US wants. But the world is increasingly multipolar, and New Delhi does have other options.
In response to Trump’s very aggressive tariffs, what did India do? It reached out to China with an olive branch. Now New Delhi and Beijing are improving their relations.
So Trump is actually pushing India and China closer together. This is exactly what Washington has been trying to prevent for well over a decade."

Youtube benutzt offenbar ohne(!) Zustimmung zur „Bildverbesserung“ KI-Algorithmen, die Details teilweise neu erschaffen (nicht nur schärfen oder färben), wodurch Realcontent plötzlich unnatürlich und teilweise wie KI-Content, Ölgemälde oder sogar Cartoon aussieht.
Dadurch könnte es künftig zunehmend schwerer werden, real produzierten Content zu erkennen und es beschädigt die Vertrauensbasis zwischen Creator und Follower.

So on one side we have the artists of #Bluesky that will call out AI imagery when they see it, and now we have another side that will try to use AI imagery to prove a point against - or for - a political opposition of some sort.
What's interesting is how the other side's actual thoughts about AI seem to be mixed, with some being for it when it's convenient (like the example I just illustrated) and others being for it entirely (e.g. they will post literally nothing but AI generated political memes). Although there do exist others who aren't for either.
