The trend, set to a sped‑up version of Ellie Goulding’s hit Lights, sees people — sometimes in groups — dancing, pressure‑washing and even climbing on their cars as part of choreographed videos.
But Scrap Car Comparison says the stunts could cause serious damage. Standing or dancing on bonnets and roofs risks dents, scratches and cracked panels, with repairs costing from £150 to over £1,000.

Customer Service Manager Matt Clamp warned that powerful pressure washers can break fragile parts such as windscreen wipers, mirrors and trims, and even strip paint or chrome.
Some videos also promote DIY cleaning “hacks” using vinegar, coconut oil or household detergents — mixtures that can corrode protective clear coats, dull paintwork and strip wax layers. Minor swirl marks could cost up to £300 to fix, while respraying multiple panels could run to £2,000.
The experts also raised environmental concerns, saying the trend wastes water — often during hosepipe bans — and ineffective cleaning means cars may need to be washed again.
Matt Clamp added:
“The intention of the videos is not to thoroughly clean your car, but to make a fun and entertaining visual for the internet to see. Unfortunately, that fun could come at a high price for your car and your wallet.”
Drivers are being urged to stick to safe, proper car‑cleaning methods.

This #YouTube drama just ain't stopping: I've been in the process of redownloading stuffs, and reuploading to a separate YT channel at least as a temporary hold since I just don't have the storage to be keeping all of them... and while this had been working for a bit, all of a sudden, I got an email saying that secondary channel has been suspended/terminated for violating their policy - policy in question being that, once a YT channel has been suspended, I'm not allowed to create a secondary YT channel either

You tired of big companies doing terrible things? I'm tired of small companies doing nothing to prevent themselves being bought out and ruined by big companies. Put your code under a non-commercial share-alike licence. Put in place a CLA that requires consent for ownership change. If you make games, put in the EULA that the game source and resources become public domain on buyout. Toot about it, make sure users know. Make the thing EA wants -- the userbase & brand -- unpalatable. Do it now, before you become big.
VC vultures are actively looking to destroy anything that threatens to become popular or essential to the freedom of Internet users. Unless you're active in poisoning the bait, your save-the-world promises of user freedom are empty.

Any recommendation for a very cheap #web #hosting ?
I want host a bunch of statically-generated sites for different users, with a single-endpoint #PHP backend for site administration. I do not need high reliability, nor much storage.
I'm currently thinking about Infomaniak's VPS-lite, or IONOS' VPS S.
If what I'm building grows, it would be good to be able to scale it up easily, but that's very hypothetical.
Also, I'm not sure I not know what I'm doing! ^^'

Ich habe Zweifel, dass man die Dynamiken sozialer Medien mit #KI-Agenten wirklich realistisch simulieren kann, aber dass am Ende nicht die Algorithmen sondern die menschliche Natur das Problem sind/ist, finde ich jetzt nicht allzu überraschend.
Dass das #Fediverse gemeinhin als friedlicher gilt, dürfte auch an den großen Reibungsverlusten des Systems liegen: Wenn unter jedem Post nur ein Bruchteil der tatsächlich vorhandenen Antworten angezeigt wird, dämpft das automatisch das Konfliktpotential. 🤷
Wobei es im Fediverse nach meiner Beobachtung auch eher eine Kultur des Ignorieren um des lieben Frieden willens zu geben scheint: Selbst bei polarisierenden Aussagen gibt es wenig Widerspruch und Diskussion. Ich bin nicht sicher, ob das nun besser ist. 🤔

The reason why I ditched #Gmail is not that the company is evil, or that they read my correspondence and misuse my data, but because they locked me out of my account a couple of times for "security" reasons.
Well, now it's time for #Telegram to go away from my life. First they claimed, that the phone number is the primary authentication method, which it's not, because I couldn't get a secondary account with a legally bought SIM-card (number already used, code can not be sent as SMS). Yesterday when I wanted to log in to my regularly used account with a new phone, instead of sending a code to the old devices, it suddenly insisted on SMS and kindly asked for ransom, which I couldn't pay even if I needed, because I don't have stupid google-services present in my #GrapheneOS installation.

I fucking hate this username hoarding culture so much. There are so many 1 post accounts on these bigger social media just to take a username. They ironically did this a lot on Tumblr, where you ofc could only sell usernames to the most manic of fandom goers cus there was zero game in clout riches on there anyway. And bsky is just as deserted so it is just pointless to buy yourself boobs.bky. Just be an actual person with whatever username, the content comes before the username. Some great online artists out there just go by ol1059 or something. On tumblr the best posts came from the worst usernames which just added onto the joke. Actually on tumblr specifically, when people took usernames for a "bit", that is something I do not hate. On the contrary, that's poggers and peak.
