"Democracy cannot survive without memory or it runs the risk of turning itself into an authoritarian state. It requires citizens to confront injustice, to learn from the crimes of the past, and to imagine futures that do not repeat them. William Faulkner’s warning still resonates: “The past is never dead. It’s not even past.” In America today, history itself has become a battleground. The ghosts of slavery, Jim Crow, and white supremacy remain with us, shaping institutions and social life. As Angela Davis reminds us, we live with these ghosts every day. The real question is whether we choose to acknowledge them, or to erase them. For when a society turns away from its own horrors and promotes forms of historical amnesia, what kind of culture is normalized? What political order emerges from the silence of forgetting? Under Trump, we have already been given a terrifying answer: a society organized around violence: against immigrants, Black people, youth, students, dissidents, women, the unhoused, and all those who fail the regime’s loyalty test to white Christian nationalism.
As sociologist Zygmunt Bauman observed, our times are not marked simply by the fading of collective memory, but by “the aggressive assault on whatever memory remains.” That assault takes the form of book bans, censorship, intimidation of educators, and the replacement of critical history with patriotic myth. Kimberlé Crenshaw has noted that the panic over “critical race theory” was never about pedagogy, it was an attempt to whitewash slavery and racism from the national narrative."

Mit schlappen 10x 3,9Ghz und 20GB Ram läuft es sogar brauchbar schnell! Aktuell mit dem #qwen 2.5:7b-instruct Modell. Da werde ich die Tage mal mit weiteren Modellen und auch mit konkreten Anwendungsfällen herumtesten 😅

#carbonActivado tanslates in german into #AktivKohle, that's the stuff you find in high quality filters, including filters for #fishTank's, #aquarium's and filres for drinking water as they have the capabilty to filter out all kind of chemicals from air and water. That's the same effect that carbon creates by storing chemical elements in it's space and structure in the soil for #plants and #microorganisms.
Creating carbon from wood by explosively cooling it down throwing it into water, transforming it into "active carbon" resolves the arduous task of creating carbon in an anaerobic setup, an interesting point because we could come up with some kind of #rocketStove with a continious feeding process, seperating glowing carbon from the rest, letting it somehow roll into a water recipient while using the heat created to warm up our houses in the winter. As of now not solved in this idea is what to do with the water steam that is produced, or even to think about some secondery use for that steam. These "ideas/considerations" are actually the result of:
* There is no waste, only primary materials
* Every element in a system has to fulfill at least two goals
What we couldn't find out into deep till now is a the issue that apparently carbon can be #hydrophobe or #hydrophilic and which process makes it hydrophillic. We guess that this is in part an important detail as the carbon harbors not only chemical elements but also is a kind of apartment building for microorganisms and their are probably different apartments for aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms.
Perhaps in the case of your soil some hydrophobic carbon could be even the better option.
Our question about the kind of soil, in part depending of the region you are from, is due to the observations that carbon to create terra preta is very usefull for old leached soils like those of the #Amazon basin, #SouthAmerica and #Africa in particular, as well as probably for example the sandy soils of #Brandenburg and #Mecklenburg-Vorpommern or regions of Spain, while the benefits in soils like Hessen, Western Germany in general and most likely the whole of central europe aren't that extraordinary, even tho they are most likely always beneficial.

"Even the very idea that we could arrive at a broadly accepted consensus on facts – regardless of their content – has grown more remote. It is down these knowledge sinkholes that the sense of ‘selfdom’ gets further elaborated, sometimes in tragic ways, through the belief that the self is the only true source of its own enlightenment.
The combination of epistemological self-centredness and hyperconnectivity makes people susceptible to diffuse forms of ‘supersense’-making (to borrow a term from Hannah Arendt). Seeking some meaningful truth, people search for significant clues scattered across the internet, using commercial algorithms and recommender systems to connect the disparate pieces of information they venture upon into some sort of coherent worldview. What may begin as a playful existential quest can easily crystallise into reality-bending beliefs that thrive on and foster new social types and politically potent associations. At its peak, QAnon exemplified the interactions between the searching disposition, digital mediations and for-profit targeting. Its members saw themselves as critical thinkers uniquely equipped to discover hidden truths and interpret byzantine clues. They ferociously denied being part of a cult, since, as one of them put it to the researcher Peter Forberg, ‘no cult tells you to think for yourself.’
One might think that the advent of LLMs will counter these tendencies. Perhaps if properly integrated with a search engine, an LLM might distil vast amounts of information into coherent responses that do not pander. It can certainly provide seemingly authoritative summaries that look like answers, though its inner workings remain essentially opaque. But it is not clear whether such systems – even if they work as advertised – can solve the problem of reliable knowledge in a balkanised public sphere."
