This #Linkedin article is supportive of whatever it is that Miscrosot is trying to do by introducing what I presume is an LLM based GenAI to spreadsheets.
But statments like “The future of spreadsheets isn't about replacing traditional formulas—it's about augmenting them with intelligence for tasks that require understanding, not just calculation.” Tells you all you need to know about the technology.
My current understanding is that an #LLM #GenAI does not ‘understand’ anything. Furthermore, these #GTP ‘chatbots’ also inherit inaccuracies and biases present in the data they are trained on. GenAI #marketing speak likes to ‘humanise’ what is simply a ‘regurgitation’ engine which comes up with is more or less the most appropriate answer to a given question. This is not a ‘pattern recognition’ engine trained on a set(s) of carefully selected data and tested to consistently provide a diagnostic or a graph matching those of experts in the given field. #GenAI is not a data analysis engines a la #Palentir.

It's really frustrating that social media has conditioned people to be on the attack all the time. We used to be able to have differing opinions and not hate someone for it. Maybe its the lack of subtext and facial queues in communicating online.
I should be able to have a preference, express my experiences without being treated like I am posting in bad faith. As someone with some amount of social anxiety, it's fucking tiring.

If the EU hypocritically accepts what economist Richard Baldwin terms the “grievance doctrine” of globalisation, how can it repel anti-European forces thriving on those views at home?"

The one thing that is lame about #PeerTube is that an instance follows other instances.
So if instance1 follows instance2 than all of the videos on instance2 show up on instance1 search. For instance1 videos to show up on instance2 search. Instance2 will have to follow instance1.
This make #PeerTube not function the same as #Mastodon and I see no point in using it because of that.

Yesterday I spoke with an American friend re: perspectives on the Online Safety Act as seen from the USA. Broadly I agree, although I think extraterritoriality is a much greater unresolved issue than described. An extract:
Them: Generally speaking, I think that the probability that a number of people who work for Ofcom will face arrest in the United States is at least as high as the possibility that US tech executives would face arrest at Heathrow.
Them: This mess was avoidable. The reason it all started was because the Biden administration tacitly wanted Britain to enforce censorship on American companies because the US government couldn’t do it itself. Someone didn’t get the memo that there was a change in administration. Even if there hadn’t been a change in administration, there could be civil penalties assessed in a lawsuit. The whole extraterritoriality thing cuts both ways, but the US has a bigger machete.
Me: Mayhap but at least half of it is a bunch of Boomers in the Lords wanting to slap upstart American capitalists
Them: That would’ve been a lot more feasible back in the day when Britain was a major power.
Them: The stupidest part here is that this is all an own goal. If Britain wants to censor foreign content, it can build a great firewall just like all the other tin pot dictatorships. It is the “expecting foreigners to obey British law” part that is going to get Ofcom in trouble.
