Just migrated my #Matrix instance running in Synapse from SQLite to PostgreSQL. Fortunately, synapse_port_db is not that hard to use. So I am techically ready to host other users here now on my instance as well 😉.
And just a reminder: having *many* Matrix instances is the way to go for a *decentralized* network. While matrix.org was down I had no issues at all continuing my conversions with people even in rooms which are located orginally on matrix.org - the wonders of federation 🙂

While visiting my folks last week, dad mentioned a client wanting certain legal/financial advice. Now she didn't like the answer he gave her (slightly outside his wheelhouse but no she can't do what she wanted) and went to #ChatGPT for "alternative" advice to challenge him with. This went on a few times before dad just said he'd introduce her to a specialist who would have could help. Originally she went okay, but when dad told her she'd have to pay for specialist's time went nah I'll find alternative advice. #AI is making people stupid

The weirdest thing happened today over at #instagram. Somebody followed me, an account posting content from #gaza, but i didn’t get a notification. i only saw that the account liked a reel of mine. when i opened the profile, i saw a banner that the account wants to follow me, and IG warned me that it might be scam. when i confirmed the follow, the app just stopped and didn’t allow the follow. i’m wondering if this is just another means of silencing content that the app doesn’t want

The #Answer is building another "society" ON TOP OF #MASTODON - rather than just develop more tech.
We're mostly just developing tech and not developing people
(and then complaining about #society and people falling for the same traps used by tech ).
Without organised #circles or dedicated #talks IN MASTODON (on any #decentalised or #centralised #platform) people do not know how to be nice / what to consider / what to look out for that's normal in new relationships / what do if this or that... / how to do it WITH someone there / where to go regularly...
Ok some chat happens... but is that it for Mastodon as a #movement? ❓
Such a lack of depth...
Without some training, we're lost / undirected online. Sorry.

Rather than using social media for mostly #hating or fearing things (#Trump #Musk #Bezos #apple #news etc)... build our own society or just increment friendships and trust (must be a way).
Develop better people AT THE SAME TIME. Not just develop tech...
Time to invest in people.
Time invested in people gives back in ways to #community [opportunity, work, listening, tutoring/teaching, other coincidental help / better examples / daily place to go to].
Developing people is the solution now we have the #Technology ....

OR #MASTODON = TEXT / PIC

+ #NEXTCLOUD = FILES
Develop caring CIRCLES OF people and everything else will come better with it. Might seem a long investment but we have to do the long work anyway because cutting corners and is cutting ourselves off with #short #textism.
Need to be dedicate to people PERSONAL #CARING IN #CIRCLES.
