Die Kieler Nachrichten haben in der heutigen Wochenendausgabe als Aufmacher einen Artikel über Probleme bei der IT-Umstellung auf Open Source in Schleswig-Holstein. Namentlich kam die Vorsitzende des Schleswig-Holsteinischen Richterverbandes, Christine Schmehl, zu Wort. Das klang für mich recht dramatisch, darum war ich neugierig auf die Details. Die Punkte von Christine Schmehl sind:
- In der Woche habe es an mehreren Tagen im ganzen Land mehrstündige Ausfälle des neuen E-Mail-Programms gegeben.
- Kalender- und Filterfunktionen seien nicht mit Outlook vergleichbar.
Der Digitalminister kommt dann am Ende des Artikels zu Wort:
Digitalminister Dirk Schrödter (CDU) sagt auf Nachfrage, dass man versuche, „den Umstieg für die Mitarbeitenden so reibungslos wie möglich zu gestalten und die Migration durch gezielte Schulungen zu unterstützen“. Gleichzeitig müsse sich jede Mitarbeiterin und jeder Mitarbeiter „der Herausforderung, mit neuen Lösungen zu arbeiten, auch stellen. Auch diese Erwartungshaltung wird formuliert."

Il a bien raison de dire que « vos collègues peuvent continuer avec Git classique sans même savoir que vous utilisez jj ».

I occasionally use the Elk client (https://elk.zone) to access Mastodon. This morning when I tried to sign in, I was offered a number of questionable Vivaldi looking Mastodon servers to sign in with (see image below). These aren't the only ones - spcial.vivaldi.net and other typos also appear on the list.
This phishing problem seems to affect the Elk client only.
It does NOT affect the Phanpy client, which correctly displays only the actual social.vivaldi.net Mastodon server.
I haven't tried signing in using any other Mastodon clients except Elk and Phanpy.
Be cautious when signing in using Elk. Make sure the Vivaldi Mastodon server is correctly spelled.

Over 150 people were deported from the US to Cuba on August 28. It was the eighth deportation flight this year. Cuba has continued to honor its bilateral migration agreement with the #US even as the Trump administration has ratcheted up the US government’s economic war on the country.
More than a million Cubans have left the island in the past five years, the biggest emigration wave in Cuban history. Most of them have gone to the US Cubans have long had a relatively privileged immigration status in the US. But #Trump revoked the legal status and work permits of hundreds of thousands of #Cubans, putting them at risk of deportation.

"Large language models can’t play chess at all. They make illegal moves. They’re not very good. But what they do do is: They have a vast amount of data. If you have more data, you have a more representative something-or-other. So, like, if you take a poll of voters, the more voters you have, the more accurate the poll is. So they have a very large sample of human writing—in fact, the entire internet. And they have a whole bunch of data that they’ve transcribed from video and so forth. So they have more than all of the written text in the internet. That’s an insane amount of data. And what they’re doing every time they answer a question is they’re trying to approximate what was said in this context before. They don’t have a deep understanding of the context. They just have the words. They don’t really understand what’s going on, but that deep pile of data allows them to present an illusion of intelligence. I wouldn’t actually call it intelligence. It does depend on what your definition of the term is, but what I would say is it’s still brute force.
So let me come back to chess for a second. If you ask a large language model, even a recent one, to play chess, it will often make illegal moves. That’s something that a six-year-old child won’t do."
