"[H]undreds of emails from Epstein’s personal Yahoo account, which haven’t been previously reported, shed new light on Maxwell’s partnership with Epstein. Maxwell opened at least one foreign bank account using one of his addresses, was a named director on one of Epstein’s main revenue-generating companies and traded stock in a company they were both invested in, details that haven’t been previously reported. The pair discussed undergoing a shared fertility procedure, long after Maxwell claims she largely disassociated from him. They corresponded about discrediting women who raised allegations against them, including in one exchange where Maxwell said she planned to circulate compromising information on one of Epstein’s sexual-abuse victims."

The problem with this argument is that it is fundamentally authoritarian. Millions of Americans engage in caustic political debates every day. Yet the number of actual political murderers is tiny — you can count them on one hand in any given year. The millions of people hurling insults at eachother are not responsible for the minuscular number of people on their “side” who actually pick up arms and try to harm someone over a disagreement. If we were to believe that speech alone was triggering violence, it would require fundamentally disabling the First Amendment. And that’s just not reasonable in a free country.
In fact, it’s not clear that politics is a big factor in political murder to begin with.

Well, in almost all recent cases of political violence, we have lonely disturbed individuals gravitating towards a political cause that also leads to the end of their own life or freedom. That’s not the path a happy person chooses."

What's happening at #Bluesky right now is very interesting. The corpos and the moderation team are sending Nazi bar signals (again), so established alternatives like #Blacksky are opening their doors to a possible mass migration. "Last July, with the assistance of the nonprofit legal group Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, I filed a motion to unseal a list of X shareholders in one of the many civil suits filed against Musk after he bought the platform and gutted its workforce. The next month, a judge granted the motion. While some of the names were previously known and no numbers were included, the list was a fascinating document, allowing for deeper research into the flows of money propping up Musk’s empire.
The shareholder list affirmed some of what we knew about the Muskonomy and where he turned for money. X drew from a familiar cast of like-minded venture capitalists, sovereign wealth funds, and US investment firms. There were a few oddities and surprises sprinkled in, as well as the conspicuous absence of some of Musk’s typical allies, like the venture capitalist David Sacks (who would go on to become Trump’s AI and crypto czar) and the financier Antonio Gracias (who would oversee some of DOGE’s work at the perpetually besieged Social Security Administration). But the most important names were associated with several authoritarian Middle Eastern states—especially Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, who had also been one of the largest shareholders of Twitter when it was a public company. Prince Alwaleed had initially criticized Musk’s planned takeover, but he later came around, rolling over his $1.9 billion stake into the new entity.
For years, critics noted the irony of a rigid and authoritarian government like Saudi Arabia investing in a freewheeling social media platform. But it was one line item in a vast portfolio of far-flung investors—and not an unusual development in the tech world. Saudi Arabia is one of the biggest investors in US tech start-ups..."
