This video is based on "Opus IV", the last "Lichtspiel" film by Walter Ruttmann.
As mentione by Wikipedia, the four Opus films by Ruttmann "are famous
for using geometric shapes, basic lines, and abstraction to create optical images". By watching the film I had an idea: why not making some of Ruttmann's shapes transparent, and overlap non-abstract video frames onto them?
I decided to put some effort on this idea. I made some choices and turned certain color intervals into transparent background.
Then I selected a picture of the moon and, by using my veemadge tool (https://gitlab.com/Eidonko/veemadge), I created 700 frames of a zooming out sequence.
After that, I wrote a Bash script that invokes Imagemagick so as to crop the moon frames to the size of Ruttmann's, and then overlaps the latter on the former, frame by frame.
Then I selected one of my pieces as a soundtrack. My choice went to
"novOstinato", https://eidon.bandcamp.com/track/novostinato, from my album "Olukord" (https://eidon.bandcamp.com/album/olukord).
Finally, I sped up "Opus IV" to 34.48 fps to match the audio duration.
The result was good far beyond my expectations! It's like the moon is also taking part into the rhythmic Dance created by Ruttmann!

Over thirty people across the country have been fired, put on leave, investigated or faced calls to resign because of social media posts criticizing Charlie Kirk or expressing schadenfreude about the conservative influencer's assassination earlier this week, according to an analysis by NPR.
And more may be to come: some GOP lawmakers and officials are signaling their readiness to punish people for their speech. Conservative activists are collecting and publicizing social media posts and profiles that they say "celebrated" his death and are calling for them to lose their jobs.
'If they have their picture on their profile, even without a name, download the picture and reverse image search it,' posted right-wing influencer Joey Mannarino. 'Cross-reference it with their LinkedIn profile and find their place of employment. Call the place of employment, leave Google reviews.'
Some Republican elected officials, along with right-wing influencers with large followings, including Laura Loomer and Libs of TikTok, the account run by activist Chaya Raichik, shared screenshots of offending posts and demanded action.
NPR has compiled a list from news reports of 33 people who have lost their jobs or are under investigations over their posts as of Friday. Most were public school teachers, with at least 21 educators in school districts across the country fired, put on administrative leave or placed under investigation by their employers. Firefighters, members of the military, a sports reporter, an employee of the Carolina Panthers and a city council official in Indiana have faced similar treatment or calls to resign."

Anmerkungen zu Daniel-Pascal Zorns Artikel „Zu stoßen was fällt“ in der Weltbühne Nummer 1 von Mai 2025 (Berliner Verlag GmbH)
In der im Frühjahr wieder aufgelegten Monatszeitschrift #Weltbühne nennen die beiden Herausgeber die Tradition des Blattes „zu gleichen Teilen (…) links und bürgerlich“.
Links ist Thomas #Fasbender, bis vor wenigen Tagen einer der beiden Verantwortlichen, nicht. Der Verlag wies vor kurzem den vielfachen Vorwurf der „rechten Mogelpackung“ zurück. Aber: „Inwieweit Autoren mit Denkansätzen der intellektuellen Rechten in der Weltbühne vertreten sein können oder nicht, ist eine wichtige Diskussion, die wir engagiert führen.“
Lechts und rinks statt rechts und links, wieder eine Debatte in falschen Gegensätzen.
Ich möchte auf den Beitrag „Zu stoßen was fällt“ von Daniel-Pascal Zorn eingehen. Er ist (unter anderem) einer der drei Autoren von „Mit Rechten reden“ (Stuttgart 2017) und Berufsphilosoph an der Bergischen Universität Wuppertal. Per #Leo, Mitautor von „Mit Rechten reden“, wurde gerade Nachfolger von Fasbender bei Weltbühne…
Zorn beschäftigt sich in der Weltbühne mit dem – von ihm diagnostiziertem – #Machtkampf zwischen den #Liberalen und den #Rechten in den Ländern des Westens.
Der erste Teil analysiert die globale Lage und ist eine Mischung aus sterilem #Politologensprech und #Tagesthemen-Kommentar. Wir tauchen ein in die simple Welt der von Zorn zitierten deutschen talking heads Herfried #Münkler und Carlo #Masala und finden ganz viel Realismus. Zum Beispiel: „Die internationalen Bündnisse sind brüchig geworden. Es regiert der Eigennutz vor dem Idealismus“, „die westliche Werteordnung [als] die Berufung auf #Freiheit und #Menschenrechte “ und so weiter.
Praktischerweise kann Zorn sich mit diesem Artikel in den Pulk der deutschen Israelfreund*innen und/oder Totschweiger*innen einreihen, der seit einigen Wochen plötzlich, nach anderthalb Jahren, den #Völkermord und den Bruch des Menschen- und des internationalen Rechts benennen kann. Allerdings ist seine Kritik sehr vorsichtig, mensch weiß ja nie… #Biden hat nur „weggeschaut“, Europa lässt #Trump machen und hat deshalb die „Glaubwürdigkeit der westlichen #Werteordnung pulverisiert“.
Das stimmt so nicht, denn ohne die politische, ökonomische und militärische Unterstützung Israels durch die #USA wäre dieses seit 686 Tagen und Nächten verübte, weltgeschichtliche Verbrechen unmöglich gewesen.
Und bereits am 11. Oktober 2023, drei Tage nach Beginn der Blockade und der Bombardierungen, haben Bidens Berater*innen das Vorgehen der israelischen #Armee als #Kriegsverbrechen eingestuft!
Die berüchtigten genozidalen Äußerungen von #Netanjahu, #Galant, #Herzog und vielen anderen stammen aus den ersten Tagen nach dem 7. Oktober, und werden immer wieder erneuert.
Mit seinen lauen Distanzierungen bleibt Zorn also weiter nahe bei den schrecklichen Freunden Israels.
Wenigstens ist er nicht bei den „Profs against antisemism“ gelistet. Allein aus #Wuppertal haben dort 13 Lehrende im Juli 2024 unterschrieben, um jegliche legitime Kritik an Israels Politik mit dem Antisemitismus-Vorwurf zu markieren und zu diskreditieren. Alles unter Führung von Professor Stefan #Liebig, der auch gerne bei der rechten „Werteinitiative“ zu Gast ist…
Im zweiten Teil schreibt Zorn über die von ihm befürchtete rechte #Revolution in der und gegen die bürgerlich-liberale Gesellschaft. Dabei wird es grundsätzlich: „Oft wird dann, weil eine Utopie eben nirgendwo verwirklicht werden kann, etwas Schlechtes daraus.“ Und auch ganz lyrisch: „Wut, Rache und Hass färben die Welt rot.“
Anscheinend geht es Zorn darum, rechtsoffene Lesende der Weltbühne zu warnen: „Das Chaos der Revolution ist (…) der Zusammenbruch der Zivilisation, ein Zustand der Rechtlosigkeit und des Bürgerkriegs.“
Bürgerliche Hölle oder faschistischer Alptraum, mehr gibt es also gar nicht?
