In open-source social media, I don't understand the lack (or the deliberate omission) of those functions that are the foundation of a truly social network. A program like #Pixelfed, which calls itself "specific for uploading images," doesn't have a sequential image scrolling feature? Corona hit our societies hard. Particularly, our young kids who just started learning to write and read. The impact varies between countries, but it is very measurable and hard to overcome.
Now, the same generation is facing the LLM wave. Many use ChatGPT and similar tools to do their homework. It is so convenient. The "clever" ones hide the fact that a computer did the work a little bit and are praised for their high quality homeworks. The honest students get left out in the cold.
The impact of the AI wave will not be felt so quickly. Even if first didactic studies should ring the alarm bells.
To me, it is pretty clear, that at some point the limits of AI in the classroom will be acknowledged.
The questions are: When will we reach that point? And how are we going to get to this point faster, to avoid too much damage being done?

Now what would happen to that username 🤔 ? Will it be available to other users to claim on that @<site> after a period of time. Or will it be gone forever?

For a short side project I've decided to go back to my roots and try making a simple but polished scene in #jmonkeyengine. And oh man is the jme's editor in a rough state. In the first 3 evening coding sessions I've opened 13 issues on github for all kinds of jank, from straight up breaking bugs to minor UX complaints. Definitely a change of pace now that I'm used to #unity's (mostly) actually working editor.

I guess something is going wrong when letting Bridgy Fed access your fediverse account. Although Bridgy Fed seems to only request read access rights for an account, Mastodon shows full read and write access being granted. See screenshots.
