As for backup plan, liberal, progressive or socialist media, generally have no backup plan. While we can see more progressives and socialists being active on fediverse, media are still sticking to X and Bsky. And to be frank, it's the matter of time as Bsky will fold to Mr. Orange. Google, X and others are already having very close ties to Trump and are actively sharing data with ICE and other agencies. Would they start banning people? Yes, they already do so.
The fact that Bsky was able to take most of people exiting X makes such migration irrelevant because platform changes while risks remain the same.
There is still a lot of work from technical side to make fediverse being comparable to some of platforms, like #PeerTube you mentioned, but this can be addressed. The biggest challenge is that those who are exposed to risks are still still using platforms that are owned by US-based corporations looking to please Trump.
And I will say what I'm always saying: it's better to move earlier instead of moving after getting banned to have to start from scratch.

"One thing that's evident about President Donald Trump's proposal for the Golden Dome missile defense shield is that designing, deploying, and sustaining it will cost a lot of money, at least several hundred billion dollars, over the course of several decades.
Beyond that, it's really anyone's guess. That doesn't sit well with some lawmakers, but the Republican-controlled Congress committed $25 billion in July as a down payment for new missile-defense technologies.
The White House stated in May that Golden Dome will cost $175 billion over three years, but a new study from a center-right think tank concludes that it is simply not enough to develop the kind of multi-layer shield Trump described in a January executive order. It's also clear that it will take longer than three years to implement the full spectrum of defense capability envisioned for Golden Dome.
"The capabilities this level of funding can buy fall far short of what the president promised, creating a multi-trillion-dollar gap between rhetoric and reality," wrote Todd Harrison, a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute.
In announcing Golden Dome, the White House said the program must defend the US homeland against many types of aerial threats, including ballistic, hypersonic, and advanced cruise missiles, plus "other next-generation aerial attacks," a category that appears to include drones and shorter-range unguided missiles."

Trump is an unpopular, flailing president engulfed in a scandal around his close friendship with a notorious pedophile, and one who is lashing out at his critics in the media while struggling to stand up to a foreign prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, who treats him like a doormat.

There is, after all, no shortage of things to criticize, from Trump’s dismal economic stewardship and diversion of law enforcement from fighting crime to his warmongering and selling out to Israel — all major betrayals of campaign promises that this current assault on free speech is just the latest instance of.
People voted for this administration because they wanted things to be less expensive; they didn’t vote for it because they wanted to be told what they can and can’t say and what comedians they’re allowed to watch on TV. Continuing down this road will be terrible for both the country and quite possibly Trump’s presidency itself — and yet it seems it’s a road the president and the people around him are determined to keep going down."

Intencipa and other teachers in Colombia are concerned their students will lose years of basic education, as traditional teaching methods are no longer effective.
“Here, Facebook is the king,” Luisa Cárdenas, a social sciences teacher in Quimbaya, in Colombia’s coffee region, told Rest of World. Her students “simply copy what comes up in the chat, but they’re not capable of analyzing what they’re replicating.”
Some even graduate without mastering how to read and write, she said.
Even before this powerful cheating tool arrived, Colombia was facing enormous educational challenges.
Only 54 out of every 100 students complete high school, and of those, just 11 reach acceptable levels in critical reading, mathematics, and natural sciences, according to the Educational Realities Observatory at Icesi University."

This wording is *REALLY* weird.
My instance limits mastodon.social (for good reason) so posts from there don't load automatically (unless I follow the account). But to say I'm "not authorized" to see the post? 🤨 The *server* isn't authorized to *show* it to me, bc the server is limited, not the other way around.
I'd expect something more factual, like "This post has been hidden based on instance federation settings" or something.

Strafanzeige gegen Bundeskanzler Merz
Ok, Juristen sind normalerweise nicht die Schnellsten. Sie lesen sich ein in die bisherige Rechtssprechung, wiegen ihre Worte wohl und machen wahrscheinlich im Sommer auch mal Urlaub. Außerdem arbeitet ein Juristen-Verein wie IALANA auch noch ehrenamtlich. So kommt es, dass diese, wie ich finde, sehr honorige Organisation, nun im September Anzeige erstattet hat gegen Bundeskanzler Merz, wegen dessen Kriegsverherrlichung aus dem Juni dieses Jahres.
Nach dem mörderischen Angriff Israels auf iranische Atomanlagen, konnte Friedrich Merz nicht mehr an sich halten und verdeutlichte öffentlich seine Ablehnung des demokratischen Rechtsstaats und dessen Gesetze. Nun ist das an sich bei diesem Herrn nicht weiter erstaunlich. Wenn man sich anschaut, was Merz sonst so sagt und vor allem was er macht, könnte man auf den Gedanken kommen, dass er auch als Bundeskanzler in erster Linie weiterhin für BlackRock, sowie für die USA und Israel tätig ist. Entscheidungen zugunsten Deutschlands und der dort lebenden Menschen, sind mir bei Merz bisher keine aufgefallen. Brav hielt Merz als CDU-Vositzender und Bundeskanzler in Spe vor seinen Arbeitgebern in Davos zum Frühstück einen Vortrag. Das kann man ja von leitenden Angestellten schließlich auch erwarten.
Dazu passt, dass er als Bundeskanzler am 17. Juni 2025 in einem Fernsehinterview des ZDF zum Angriff Israels auf den Iran vom 13. Juni 2025 dem möglicherweise teilweise erstaunten Publium sagte:
„Das ist die Drecksarbeit, die Israel macht für uns alle. Wir sind von diesem Regime auch betroffen… Ja, Drecksarbeit, die Israel da gemacht hat. Ich kann nur sagen: größten Respekt davor, dass die israelische Armee den Mut gehabt hat, die israelische Staatsführung den Mut dazu gehabt hat, das zu machen.“
Das haben auch die JuristInnen von IALANA gehört und sich wahrscheinlich reiflich überlegt, ob und wie sie darauf reagieren sollen. Nun haben sie diese Strafanzeige erstattet.
IALANA nennt auch die Namen der Opfer: Die getöteten iranischen Wissenschaftler waren: Fereydoon Abbasi, Experte für Kerntechnik und ehemaliger Chef der iranischen Atomenergiebehörde; Mohammad Mehdi Tehrantschi, Physiker und Präsident der Islamischen Azad-Universität; Akbar Motalebi Zadeh, Experte für Chemietechnik; Saeed Barji, Experte für Werkstofftechnik; Amir Hassan Fakhahi, Physiker; Abd al-Hamid Minoushehr, Experte für Reaktorphysik; Mansour Asgari, Physiker; Ahmad Reza Zolfaghari Daryani, Experte für Kerntechnik; und Ali Bakhouei Katirimi, Experte für Maschinenbau.

Defederating servers / Blocking users from Fediverse
Hello. 
I have been trying to filter out some of the foreign language posts that come from the Fediverse.
I have been using the "Filtering" to defederate instances. (In most cases, these are single-user instance bot accounts.)
Even if I add in an instance to the list, and separate it with a line break, posts from that instance will still appear.
Is it because I am using a relay?
Example: I have fairy.id listed as a server in the Filtering box.
But their posts still appear.
