If I were to work on building a "For you" algorithmic feed in a social network, I would have some way for the user to "rate" the post they see. A ternary yes/meh/no. Yes and no are pretty clear, but I think the "meh" is important too, as a "I don't mind this, it's not really my thing but sure, why not".

There's a scammer registered on mastodon.cloud who is currently spamming people all over the Fediverse (https://digipres.club/@timixretroplays/116400799417215833).
Mastodon.cloud seems to be an unmoderated instance with open registration. It hasn't responded to multiple previous abuse reports, I'm guessing they will not ban this scammer either.
The admin of mastodon.cloud hasn't posted since February 2023 and its server software is very out of date.

Needless to say, the link points to malware.
I normally consider those behind these types of accounts to be the worst human beings to ever be born on this planet.

What do you think about creating a voluntary "discover system" for sharing (linking) other people's photos and accounts?
Reasons behind this idea:
1. often, by chance, I discover good photographers and I'm like: "how have I missed this until now?"
2. boosts/reblogs don't work;
3. the Discover page only shows the top accounts all the time (same 7-8 people??). Which is great, they take briliant photos and deserve to be there. But it's not a Discover page, is it? It's a TOP/Trending page.
My thoughts so far:
1. Come up with an hashtag and make it a weekly event (like caturday, doorsday, monochromemonday...you get the idea);
2. Publish a post with links to fediverse photos/accounts we like and keep it there for at least 48 hours;
3. 100% voluntary, no pressure, just giving back to the community.
What do you think? Is it a stupid idea? How to improve on it?

Campax, die Schweizerische Kampagnen/Petitions-Plattform, ist sehr umtriebig. Alle paar Tage kommt ein neuer Aufruf, um eine Petition zu unterzeichnen.
Im Fediverse sind sie nicht präsent, dafür auf vielen grossen verpönten Plattformen.
Campax ist ein Verein, Mitglied beim "Online Progressive Engagement network". Es tönt alles sehr sympathisch, auch die Vorstands-Mitgliedschaft vom Grünen Nationalrat Balz Glättli - von dem ich viel halte - ist ein positives Signal.
Allerdings habe ich kein unabhängiges Audit gefunden, welches das gefühlsmässige Vertrauen auch bestätigen könnte.
