Look at how they portrayed my ban. They banned my remote account, but they overlooked the fact that I already excluded or blocked the lemmy.world instance at my account level, which still federates with mine at the server level, & they are portraying me as if I am the one trying to enter their space. I want to explicitly say that I have the right to leave at my request, & to be left from any community without losing my dignity & respect. I am not just another anon or a modlog entry. #FediBlock

So I still cannot figure out why my "Live feeds" are not updating. None of them update. Not the "This server" or "Other servers" or "All".
None of them have updated since June.
Here's some facts about the issue:
Home and Lists are fine and updating normally.
it only affects this user account. Other user accounts on this instance are fine, despite age or admin access
it persists across devices (macos, android) and browsers (zen, firefox, chromium) and still happens in private browser windows. It also happens in fedilab and tusky.
I've tried both the advanced web interface and the regular web interface
I've tried clearing my cache and hard refreshing my browser
I've tried logging out and back in
I've tried completely destroying my redis cache (I use valkey if that's helpful), including all of its persistence, forcing it to completely rebuild
I've tried restarting mastodon
it's not a modsecurity issue. There's no errors in the logs
What in the world could this be? Is there a table in postgresql I could clear out? I am completely lost on this issue. I've been passively troubleshooting it for months, but it doesn't affect anyone else on this instance 🤔

One way to deal with GPT and exercises is to give the students some exercises where they have to find errors in code generated by a GPT. Note that the code may produce the correct output, but still be internally incorrect (e.g. two errors cancelling each other out).
This strategy has some positive aspects:
- It puts the students with their back against the wall: they can't use a GPT to solve the exercise, or they'd be going around in circles.
- When they solve the exercise, students feel empowered, because they realize that they have corrected a GPT.
- It makes the students aware that GPT outputs cannot be fully trusted.
I've been using this strategy in a physics course, even at the exam ("Explain what's wrong with this chatGPT answer"), and it seems to be working well. Several students got in touch about explanations, saying "at first I asked this to chatGPT, but we've seen in the course that we can't fully trust it...".

So, my new standard procedure when helping students will probably be:
- always explicitly ask them whether any code or assumptions are based on LLM chats
- ask them to explain concrete details and show me the datasheets and API documentation they referred to
- if it turns out they have built a complex system but no clue how it works: politely refuse to spend any more time and ask them to come back when they can answer certain questions themselves.
