"The Trump administration unveiled a new crackdown Friday on journalists at the Pentagon, saying it will require them to pledge they won’t gather any information — even unclassified — that hasn’t been expressly authorized for release, and will revoke the press credentials of those who do not obey.
Under the policy, the Pentagon may revoke press passes for anyone it deems a security threat. Possessing confidential or unauthorized information, under the new rules, would be grounds for a journalist’s press pass to be revoked.
“DoW remains committed to transparency to promote accountability and public trust,” the document says, using an acronym for the newly rebranded Department of War. “However, DoW information must be approved for public release by an appropriate authorizing official before it is released, even if it is unclassified.”
For months, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and his staff have been tightening restrictions on Pentagon reporters while limiting military personnel’s direct communication with the press. Like many defense secretaries before him, Hegseth has been deeply irritated by leaks. His staff this year threatened to use polygraph tests to stop people from leaking information, until the White House intervened."

China’s main objectives, including its specific territorial claims, are consistent with what it wanted in the mid-twentieth century, when the country was weak and poor. In fact, they date back even further: political authorities since the Qing dynasty, which ruled China from the seventeenth century to the early twentieth century, made similar claims.
If China is a status quo power with clear and limited aims, not a grave threat to U.S. dominance, the United States is taking the wrong approach to the world’s most important bilateral relationship. Washington’s emphasis on military deterrence and preparing for war risks creating exactly the type of military confrontation where none need exist and threatens to isolate the United States from East Asia. Rather than view China as a dangerous threat, the United States needs to understand China’s core interests so that it knows where China may be willing to compromise and where it will not. U.S. policymakers who want to effectively influence Beijing would be better served engaging China economically and diplomatically rather than trying to isolate and contain China with a military-first grand strategy."

Is there anyone else here who has run #Upmpdcli as a music player, and made songcast (synchronous music player for multiple devices, non-Free) work?
Overall I'm pretty happy with it, even without songcast, as the Renderers are solid and remember your playlist - it's quite nicely done. But I really want that whole-house-and-garage audio.
I have managed to sort of get a songcast session going (the control point android app, BubbleDS, requires you to pay to keep it going more than 15 mins, but if it works, I don't mind). But I cannot seem to make it come out the speakers anywhere.
If anyone wants to mess around with this and needs a bit of help with compiling and building or setting up the apt repository, I can give a hand getting your Pi up and running, if you can maybe help me figure out songcast. Hit me up.

In the end, the AAAS journalists concluded that ChatGPT "does not meet the style and standards for briefs in the SciPak press package." But the white paper did allow that it might be worth running the experiment again if ChatGPT "experiences a major update." For what it's worth, GPT-5 was introduced to the public in August."

I solved my JavaScript problem. The solution was to create a module.config.js file where you give a list of package name/local path to use instead of the installed one.
No idea whether it’s a WebPack or a React feature, or even a custom configuration of that particular project.
I still need a watch webpack or babel process in each component repo, in addition to app’s webpack-dev-server, because the latter watches the components’ dist folder. #JavaScript #React #WebPack
