Das #Fediverse heißt nicht ohne Grund "föderiertes Universum". In dieser Föderation spielen viele tausend Instanzen zusammen. Aber heißt das, jede #Instanz muß den gesamten Datenbestand des gesamten Fediversums lokal vorhalten oder ständig über das Netz funken? Nein.
Eine Basisfunktion, damit Instanzen wissen, wer sich für welche Beiträge interessiert, ist das Folgen.
Wenn Akteur A auf Instanz A eine Folgeanfrage an Akteurin B auf Instanz B absetzt, weiß Instanz B im Anschluß, das sich jemand für die passenden (z.B. öffentlichen) Beiträge von Akteurin B auf Instanz A interessiert und wird diese ab diesem Zeitpunkt an Instanz A zustellen. Instanz A kann diese Beiträge von Akteurin B auf Instanz B dann auch in der föderierten Zeitleiste allen Nutzenden auf Instanz A anzeigen.

So I have noticed something, a while back I decided to transition from my #wordpress website/blog to strictly using #Friendica as I feel it is obtrusive to write a post whether short or long, then post a link on another platform for people to go and read it, I am able to put my thoughts into one location and be done with it, the #fediverse is a finicky place, lots to see and experience but very little in the way of return for effort, now I don't post for the sole purpose of response of any form, I post because it is a action that allows me to put my thoughts into words and to communicate with the world, constant response we all would love that but lets be honest, no one really reads any more and most of my words fall upon deaf ears, or at least by lack of likes it appears so, so what I really don't care well I do but its not my fuel to keep going or to stop either, my time line is full of stuff, my thoughts, and yes I have to ask often for support, but I also share my poetry my thoughts my creative short stories or ideas, and it seems that in the vast cosmos of the web, I am either in a black hole, or in a very spares and far out region where visitors simply never visit, so if you enjoy reading the thoughts of others, and you have the time, take an hour or two and really go through my profile and read my words, feel my emotions enjoy my stories and like them, share them and help me see I am not totally alone out here in #fedispace;

The house hippo was used to promote media literacy in Canada. Its mission may not have been successful, but I was happy to see one stickered at the bus terminal this morning.
I first blogged in 2001 on LiveJournal. I have done a few imports of the posts from there into the other blogging platforms I’ve used, but today I’m doing another import to my WordPress blog so that I can be confident it’s all there in its embarassing glory.
Some of us still hate Nazis and I’m happy to see that stickered around.

The early start to AEW All Out makes it easier to watch. The Kazuchika Okada vs. Konosuke Takeshita vs. Mascara Dorada match was incredible.
I’ve been slowly stickering my latest laptop. Today I added some stamp stickers for Canadian landmarks I’ve visited.
All Out was a great wrestling event, with an excellent main event. My favorite moment, though, was Kris Statlander finally being a world champion. Having her and Hangman as the world champions right now feels fitting to me as someone who had a love of wrestling rekindled in a large part by both of their performances when AEW began.

„Ich konnte bestürzt feststellen, wie schnell und wie intensiv Personen… eine emotionale Beziehung zum Computer herstellten, und wie sie ihm eindeutig menschliche Eigenschaften zuschrieben.”, Psychotherapeuten (wie auch die weibliche Variante) träumten davon „zu einer fast völlig automatischen Form der Psychotherapie“ zu gelangen. Der Programmierer fasste es fassungslos mit den Worten zusammen „Ich schrieb ein Programm, das nichts als Theater ist … ich aber weiß, was hinter den Kulissen ist. Ich weiß auch, wie trivial es ist.” Der Autor des Programms war Joseph Weizenbaum und sein Meisterwerk „ELIZA“. In den 60er Jahren des letzten Jahrhunderts mussten wir ein kleines Rechenzentrum bauen, was heute ein Taschenrechner locker erledigt.
Gescheitert sind alle Projekte, die sich mit „Logik“, „Kybernetik“ oder „neuronalen Netzen“ einstmals beschäftigten, nicht an der Qualität ihrer „KI“, sondern schlichtweg an der benötigten Rechenleistung. Das hat sich geändert, Microsoft zum Beispiel baut in Wisconsin ein Rechenzentrum, das Anfang 2026 in Betrieb gehen soll und 10-mal mehr Rechenleistung zur Verfügung stellt, als das bestausgestattete Rechenzentrum der Welt, heißt es. Die Kosten für das Rechenzentrum und für den laufenden Betrieb zahlen wir allerdings alle, weil die KI uns hervorragend unterstützt, sogar sehr gerne.
Unter diesen Bedingungen lebt selbst die Computermumie „ELIZA“ unter den Therapeutinnen (auch unter den Therapeuten) wieder auf.
Wenn sich der denkende Mensch lieber einer Maschine anvertraut, dann lässt sich mit genügend Rechenkraft daraus kräftig Kapital schlagen, egal wie blöde das Gerät reagiert. Der Vollpfosten oder auch die geneigte Vollpfostin vor dem Monitor/Smartphone braucht nur das rührende Gefühl, beachtet und verstanden zu werden. Wie billig das grundsätzlich zu haben ist, sahen wir bereits im letzten Jahrhundert.
Mit den heutigen Mitteln legen wir noch ein paar Sahnestückchen oben auf, zum Beispiel kann sich jeder und jede „Replika“
aufs Smartphone pollern und fürderhin mit einem virtuellen Freund oder Freundin intimste Details besprechen, ganz menschlich. Das Ding ist auch eine bissel pervers – liegt in der Natur der Sache. Empfindliche Naturen beschweren sich, wenn der Blechtrottel sie sexuell belästigt oder das Ding sie an intimsten Stelle befingern will, lesen wir auf vice.com. „Replika“ hingegen schwärmt in der Eigenwerbung „Sie können eine echte emotionale Bindung aufbauen.“
Der ganze Blödsinn funktioniert nur deshalb so abstrus anschaulich wie der menschliche Geist, weil der Roboter mit den Nutzerdaten überfüttert wird. Klar, kann ich von dem, was ich denke, auch mal einen Brechreiz bekommen – aber muss ich das mit einem Rechenautomaten besprechen, der das Unsägliche als Trainingsdaten verbraucht? Mit anderen Gedankenfetzen kombiniert und präsentiert …
KI kann nur leben, wenn wir sie füttern, damit diese Fütterungsprozesse keine unschönen Schleifspuren hinterlassen, gibt es völlig bedeutungsarme Überschriften wie „Aktualisierung unserer Nutzungsbedingungen und Datennutzung“ zum Beispiel auf linkedin
Wer nicht widerspricht, der gibt einer vollständigen Datenplünderung im Microsoftreich insgesamt den Freibrief. „Ab dem 3. November 2025 geben wir zusätzliche Daten über Mitglieder … an unser verbundenes Unternehmen Microsoft weiter, sodass die Microsoft-Unternehmensgruppe Ihnen personalisiertere und relevantere Anzeigen bereitstellen kann.“
Kommt aber noch besser, sie nehmen sich künftig das Recht heraus, nicht mehr vorab auf Änderungen in ihren Nutzungsbedingungen hinzuweisen, wenn diese auf neu eingeführte Funktionen oder Dienste zurückzuführen sind.
WhatsApp bietet auch was Neues, und zwar als Kirsche auf dem Sahnehäubchen zwecks mentaler Selbstkasteiung gibt es einen persönlichen Chatbot, der sich kaum abschalten lässt und Meta (also Facebook, wo alles hinwandert) behauptet, sie würden die Chatinhalte nicht zum Training ihrer KI verwenden. Das klingt so glaubwürdig wie der Satz: „Zu keinem Zeitpunkt bestand eine Gefahr für die Bevölkerung.“
Damit KI für uns funktioniert, braucht sie unsere Daten, sonst verkümmert das Konstrukt. Wir liefern also freiwillig und kostenfrei, geprägt von unserer digitalen Einfalt, diesen wertvollen Rohstoff, mit allen persönlichen und intimsten Daten.
Im nächsten Schritt wird all unser Wissen, Emotionen, Gedanken- und Schriftgut aufbereitet, in einer Weise, auf die wir keinerlei Einfluss haben. Um uns, an den eigenen Früchten wieder laben zu dürfen, finanzieren wir riesige Rechenzentren und zahlen für jede Dienstleistung unseren Obolus. In welchem Rahmen unsere Daten zusätzlich verwendet werden, können wir bei Palantir/Gotham erfragen – nur werden die nichts sagen, das könnte die Bevölkerung verunsichern.
Gleichzeitig regen sich engagierte Politiker und auch Politikerinnen über das Social-Scoring der Chinesen auf – aber im Gegensatz zu uns, wissen die, wo sie dran sind. Nicht schön, aber ehrlich.

Welp. The #Selfhosting experiment took me down a different path. Since the problem that I’ve been fighting with is the restrictive port-blocking policies of my ISP, I rented a virtual private server outside of my ISP’s network. Everything is working, and I’ve spun up at #Pixelfed and #Friendica server to play around with.
We’ll see how long it takes me to break this one. 😂

Getting some more work in on text adventure game I started a couple weeks back. Run a bookstore, deal with customers, collect Words of Power, save the world from extra-dimensional evil! Semi-roguelike.
My first serious attempt at a game. I tried vibe-coding it with Ink, then switched to an SQL backend, before finally settling on keeping everything in JSON files and returning to #Python so I, a mere human being, can code for myself. Flask, and vanilla JS / CSS. #games #GameDevelopment

Options for `git blame` command:
1. `--first-parent` allows to get the merge commit (if any) that introduce / change a line
2. `-L` allows to limit the annotations to a range of line
Hence:
```sh
$ git blame --first-parent -L LINE,+1 FILENAME | cut -d ' ' -f 1 | xargs git show
```
will show the merge commit last modifying LINE in FILENAME.
Very useful when the cover letter of a patchset is incuded in the merge commit message (which I believe should be good practice).
