One of the largest Lemmy instances, lemmy.ml, seems to have been presenting downtime issues since yesterday. Same goes for another, smaller instance, thelemmy.club. While other instances seem to be up, such as lemmy.world, lemmy.zip and even specific instances such as hexbear.net, the whole #Threadiverse itself seems to be... quieter than I normally watch it, as someone who's used to browse Lemmy using the "New comments" sorting mode. To which extent is it due to AI crawlers? #fediverse #lemmy

Godot Curve Spawner - Lock Rotation and Spiral Modifier 🔒🌀
You can now add an optional SpiralModifier to the CurveSpawner via the inspector UI and it will curl the spawned objects along the curve.
You can enable the Lock Rotation option to not have the objects follow the curve in rotation, and there is a "only Y rotation" option in case you want the objects to only align with the curve direction in that axis.

Some people turned on their televisions on Friday night to see a memorial to Charlie Kirk when they expected to see a comedian welcoming his next guest.
What unites the many actions of the Trump administration, from the sledgehammer it has taken to government programs to the demonstrative cruelty it has built into immigration raids, is that they transform the daily physical, economic and psychic experience of life. President Trump is remaking the country in his image: crude, harsh, gratuitously mean. The ongoing attack on civil society, which his administration plans to intensify in the name of Charlie Kirk, is a part of this program. Civil society makes life more livable. The administration’s message is that the work of civil society no longer belongs in this country."

"Meta has used back-to-school pictures of schoolgirls to advertise one of its social media platforms to a 37-year-old man, in a move parents described as “outrageous” and “upsetting”.
The man noticed that posts encouraging him to “get Threads”, Mark Zuckerberg’s rival to Elon Musk’s X, were being dropped into his Instagram feed featuring embedded posts of uniformed girls as young as 13 with their faces visible and, in most cases, their names.
The children’s images were used by Meta after their parents had posted them on Instagram to mark their return to school. The parents were unaware that Meta’s settings permitted it to do this. One mother said her account was set to private, but the posts were automatically cross-posting to Threads where they were visible. Another said she posted the picture to a public Instagram account. The posts of their children were highlighted to the stranger as “suggested threads”.
The recipient told the Guardian the posts felt “deliberately provocative and ultimately exploitative of the children and families involved”.
The father of a 13-year-old who appeared in one of the posts said it was “absolutely outrageous”. The images were all of schoolgirls in short skirts with either bare legs or stockings.
