Had to do it eventually, so I got palette swapping support working at the voxel-by-voxel level.
Cool side effect of this approach:
- The player can repaint terrain without any added overhead.
- Palette cycling is possible, for old school palette-based animation styles.
- I can have procedurally-generated terrain types that reuse existing textures

In the 80s of the last century I shared my first wonderful Commodore C64 with my young brother. You exchanged floppy disks and MCs for the Datasette with friends, wrote your own code in Basic, there was no internet. Then it came. It was incredible. Then the corporations came along and ruined so much. The Fediverse is my hope to be able to save something. At the beginning of the Internet, it was all about sharing. Not about making money. It was about making the world a better place and being able to better understand people and their opinions. I still hope. My pictures are a contribution to the idea of a free internet. Share them, think about them, have fun and joy!

Привет, Хабр! Меня зовут Алексей, я разработчик в строительной компании ВитионГруп. Мы занимаемся ремонтом квартир в Москве, одновременно ведём 30–75 объектов, за 18 лет завершили более 1000 проектов. В 2022 году я начал разрабатывать внутренний инструмент для управления ремонтными проектами. За три года из «чата с заказчиком» вырос полноценный продукт: PWA с чек-листами и таск-трекером, видеонаблюдением, конструктором смет, финансовым модулем и интеграцией с ИИ. Сейчас на базе этой системы работают два продукта по подписке, которыми пользуются строительные компании, а также частные мастера и их заказчики из разных регионов России и Казахстана.
