I remember when I first learned about the creation of the #UN Security Council (this would have been mid 90’s), my thoughts were around how problematic the concept of permanent members with a veto was…tbh back then I wondered how the rest the of the world tolerated the UK and France having that status.
And now…why does rest of the world accept #Russia and #USA having that power when they are so clearly governed by despots - #Trump and #Putin?

#Facebook and #Messenger now deactivated (that account will be fully deleted soon) - it means I'm once again cut off from some old friends from the rave scene, but I'm unlikely to start going to those events again for the foreseeable future (they are too many spoons these days, especially with the distance involved and the last couple I went to I didn't enjoy as much as back in the day) - being on there is just a privacy/security risk with all the gammons who infest every corner (and even the rave crowds are blighted with culture war divisions, same as they were 20 years ago)

Most OSes these days don't allow incoming connections at random and no reasonable software should expose i.e. servers on the network.
Even #WebDevelopers wanting to have a #httpd or #ngnix on the go will bind that to the
loopbackinterface.
The few applications that don't do that have no reason to exist and are inherently #ITsec issues.
- Again: If one can configure stuff to be bound to a specific #VPN then they also can plug that risk as well.
Most corporations use VPNs to fullfill ITsec requirements ranging from #PCIDSS to #HIPAA and from #GDPR to #BDSG as well as protect against #CorporateEspionage and #Hacking by literally only allowing #eMail access through the corporate VPN or #LAN.
- But that's a different story, espechally for travelling consultants that have to access resources remote whilst in #cyberfascist juristictions (i.e. #USA & "P.R." #China)...

Take a look—$100 million salaries, glitzy hype videos for fundraises, lavish parties with dress codes—Silicon Valley is swelling with Trump-era opulence—blustery, spendy, and male.
It is easy to think from the outside that San Francisco is the one place on earth insulated from crisis. Everyone else is living in fear of political upheaval and mass job loss, while the rich nerds discovered suit jackets and now they’re the ones on top. “My mutuals run the world,” goes one Twitter refrain.
For the tech industry as a whole, this may be true. But for most individual participants, the swagger is a gilded surface, paper-thin. To make an analogy: while most English-language headlines about China emphasize its industrial might, some observers have turned to internet anthropology as a way to find cracks in the story. Social media slang like 996, tangping, laoshuren, and involution point to the slice of urban youth who feel they are getting crushed by the development machine. Humor is a release valve for what you can’t say.
Likewise, read between the tweets, and you’ll find an uneasy blend of ironic zoomer nihilism and a triumphant tech bro resurgence, big-mouthed hustle-posting with an undercurrent of AI status anxiety:"

A Chinese-speaking threat actor conducted a large-scale SEO poisoning campaign dubbed 'Operation Rewrite' using BadIIS malware to manipulate search results. The attackers compromised legitimate websites and used malicious IIS modules to intercept web traffic and serve altered content. The campaign targeted East and Southeast Asia, particularly Vietnam. Multiple variants of BadIIS were discovered, including ASP.NET handlers and PHP scripts. The threat actor is linked to previously known groups like Group 9 and possibly DragonRank. Their toolkit allowed them to inject malicious content, redirect users, and exploit compromised servers for various malicious purposes.
