Ein Bekannter meiner palästinensischen Freunde liegt schwer verletzt im Al-Shifa-Spital in Gaza-Stadt. Teile des medizinischen Personals im bereits weitgehend zerstörten Spital weigern sich, der von Israel angeordneten Evakuierung Folge zu leisten, da sie für viele Patientinnen einem Todesurteil gleichkommt. Auch in den Zeltlagern am Meer fehlt es an medizinischer Versorgung, an sanitären Anlagen und an Nahrung.
Ich verzweifle, wenn ich versuche, mir das unfassbare Ausmass an Tod und Zerstörung vorzustellen: Hunderttausende Menschen werden zum wiederholten Mal vertrieben. 65’000 Menschen sind offiziell als direkte Folge des Krieges tot: Unter ihnen mindestens 20’000 Kinder. Nicht öffentliche Statistiken der israelischen Armee zeigen, dass 83 Prozent der Getöteten Zivilistinnen sind.

Unsere #Instanz wächst und wächst. Kürzlich hatten wir unser zwei-jähriges Jubiläum. Wir haben aktuell 236 trötende #Rüssel hier auf unserer Instanz und das bedeutet, dass unsere Instanz mit eine der erfolgreichen Instanzen im #deutsch sprachigen Raum geworden ist.
Das bedeutet aber auch, dass der Instanz #Server einiges zu leisten hat. Er muss performant bleiben und er muss groß genug sein, um die ganzen #Tröts mit ihren #Medien wie #Bilder und #Videos zu speichern. Auch der #Backup-Server muss entsprechend dimensioniert sein. Das alles kostet viel #Geld im #Monat, das ich vollständig aus der eigenen #Tasche bezahle.

The Escalator Is Down — And Sherlock Holmes Is on It!

We really do hear of Sherlock everywhere these days.
In his monologue on September 24, Steven Colbert was determined to get to the bottom of just who shut down the escalator at the United Nations as President Trump was about to go up.
“Top minds are on the case,” Colbert said, before cutting away to press secretary Karoline Leavitt, who said the Secret Service was “trying to get to the bottom of it.”
“And it’s not going to be easy to get to the bottom of it, since it was an ‘up’ escalator,” Colbert quipped.
He continued by showing a tweet from Leavitt, who suggested that if someone from the U.N. was responsible, they should be investigated and fired.
Then the show rolled a graphic with a magnifying glass and the words ESCALATOR INVESTIGATOR.
Upon return from the graphic, Colbert was wearing a deerstalker and holding a meerschaum pipe.
The case was cracked, via a U.N. spokesperson, who revealed the identity of the person who stopped the escalator.
“Well, that de-escalated quickly,” Colbert concluded, before taking off his clever disguise.

"Until the recent empowerment of an unleashed Trump administration and the support of wealthy business interests, the far right was languishing. Many notorious far-right groups and personalities were bankrupt, unemployable, facing prosecution, unable to attract audiences, plagued by infighting, harassed in public, under a constant microscope, and generally rendered weak and inert.
It was the work of dedicated and organized anti-fascists that made this possible. And that work was, I might hasten to add, perfectly legal.
Groups that have considered themselves antifa or anti-fascist run the gamut of organizational possibilities. They are formally and informally constituted, with and without membership, and range from publicly facing to completely anonymous. Their activities include the publication of research on the far right, producing cultural events, staging self-defense trainings, organizing de-platforming campaigns, and mounting counter-demonstrations.
As for assets, George Soros and liberal financiers certainly do not fund these activities. Activists themselves usually do. All groups need some money and assets to carry out the most basic work, even if the sums are paltry. I myself have fundraised for the basic infrastructure needed to do things like host meetings, run online platforms, call demonstrations, and produce educational materials."
