@smallcircles @gary Standards are impprtant but also efforts to make tools that regular people can use. An example is the difference between #openrt and #yunohost - both great projects but for non technical people openwrt is difficult to engage with but amazingly powerful while yunohost focuses on usability while.accpeting some fundamental limitations.
Id love to see something that brings the two together (or perhaps.something modular that work together) to deliver a guided setup of router and selfhosted opensource apps for a non technical user.

I have been using the same work laptop for 9 years. I do dev and your average work stuff - still works great and i know what I’m doing.
The fact that a pdf slinging office worker on Windows needs a new laptop more often than me is outrageous. This is shit is breaking our planet - China selling the hardware for the bloated software from the USA.
If the USA really wanted to punish China they would start by making an efficient Linux desktop from Microsoft.

Der Meat Exhaustion Day kennzeichnet jenen Tag, an dem eine #Nation die maximal empfohlene Menge #Fleisch fürs #gesamteJahr verzehrt hat. Deutschland erreicht diesen Tag bereits nach einem Viertel des Jahres!
Errechnet wird der Meat Exhaustion Day nach den Richtlinien der Planetary Health Diet. Diese orientieren sich an der ökologischen Belastungsgrenze der Erde und der gesundheitlichen Empfehlung für den Menschen.
Höchstens 231 g Fleisch empfiehlt die Planetary Health Diet einer Person pro Woche, etwas weniger als die DGE nahelegt (300 g). Das sind weniger als 12 kg im Jahr. Anders als die DGE unterscheidet die Planetary Health Diet zwischen #Geflügel und rotem #Fleisch.
Fast 55 kg Fleisch isst der oder die durchschnittliche Deutsche im Jahr (2025), also 4-Mal mehr als empfohlen. Insgesamt konsumiert Deutschland etwa 3,6 Millionen Tonnen mehr Fleisch als geraten.
Der Meat Exhaustion Day soll aufzeigen, dass in Deutschland massiv zu viel Fleisch konsumiert wird, und Menschen dazu anregen, ihren #Fleischkonsum neben #tierethischen Gründen auch aus gesundheitlicher und ökologischer Sicht zu hinterfragen.

Używanie najróżniejszych Chatów GPT, Claudów i innych w urzędach to plaga. Cały czas spotykam się z pismami, w których urzędnicy powołują się na nieistniejące przepisy, albo zamieszczają argumenty z dupy. To po prostu widać, zwłaszcza jak ktoś przez dwa lata wysyła mi pisma, które składają się z jednego zdania, z czterema błędami ortograficznymi, ale przynajmniej z odpowiedzią, a potem odkrywa chat gpt i nagle pisze porównania homeryckie działek budowlanych.
Ale do brzegu.
Zastanawiam się jak dużo danych osobowych szarych ludzi wypłynęło w celu trenowania SI. Jak dużo poufnych informacji zostało podanych. Księgi wieczyste, pesele, informacje zastrzeżone i poufne.
Adresy, nazwiska, historie własności, spory i uzgodnienia. Trochę mnie to przeraża.
A wszystko przez to, że Tereska z urzędu miasta odkryła pomoc, dzięki której już w ogóle nie musi myśleć.

Spannend, wie hier die Wirtschaftsministerin Katharina Reiche, bzw. ihre Mitarbeitenden, bei den Energiekonzernen Argumentationshilfen bestellen und das dann am Ende wieder einmal nur durch journalistische Recherchen ans Tageslicht kommt.
Mit welcher Dreistigkeit die Ministerin ihren Kumpels und Kumpelinen der fossilen Energieindustrie die Türe aufhält ist nicht überraschend (nach Ende ihrer politischen Karriere, dürfte es sicher eine hochbezahlte Dankeschön-Anschlussverwendung in der Energieindustrie geben).
Ermüdend ist es dennoch: mit tätiger Hilfe der Minister:innen und ihrer Bürokrat:innen, macht sich die Industrie nicht nur den Staat zur Beute, sondern treibt die ökologische Zerstörung immer schneller voran.

YT continues to up the ante. For "yt-dlp" to work with YT, you need "deno" or a comparable engine now. You also need to redirect through a foreign country [sometimes].
I'll review the video that you ID'd at a later point. I'm occupied with moving possessions presently. However, I'd be quite interested in videos or channels that should be archived.
The S/N ratio on YT is low, but there *are* important or entertaining videos of all types. People who see this post are invited to offer more video IDs [or channel links]. Let's save what's worthwhile before AI gobbles up the platform.
Note, BTW, that a license which you supposedly agree to just by visiting YT isn't #copyright law.
I'll add that a single low-price USB-3 stick with rotating connector [both USB A and C] can hold literally thousands of videos and it'll plug-in to a Smart TV, a phone, and/or a PC. All in high-resolution. It's quite a change from the VHS tapes of 40 years ago.
I've been working on such a stick for 2 years now. It has nearly every movie on it that I care to see again, ditto for songs and music videos, and famous or obscure shorts that shouldn't disappear. All in a form factor that is scarcely larger than a thumbnail.
Illustration: Two of the shorts on my video USB stick, a science video from YT and "Khang's Malt Liquor", which I don't think is on YT. Depending on your web browser, there are multiple ways to expand the image to fullscreen [or 1920 pixels wide].
