Klar versuche ich das. Aber #Mastodon ist halt schon überwiegend „progressiv“ & tech-nerdig. Als Christdemokrat wirst Du hier ständig persönlich und dualistisch angepampt, auf Bundespolitik reduziert und pseudo-besorgt gefragt, wie „so ein vernünftiger Mensch denn in der #CDU bleiben“ könne. Hinzu kommen Spam- und Löschkampagnen „zufällig“ am Holocaust-Gedenktag u.ä.
Ich frage mich selber bisweilen, warum ich mir das antue…
Solange sich Progressive & Linke nicht öfter auch mal ehrlich fragen, warum sie in großen Teilen der Bevölkerung (oft zu Unrecht!) als arrogant, akademisch und ideologisch verbohrt gelten, werden nicht nur Konservative, sondern auch Moderate wie ich das #Fediverse eher meiden. Viele sind nach kurzer Zeit wieder gegangen.
Kurz: Ob das hier eine bisweilen sektenartig wirkende Nerd-Blase bleiben oder ein echter Dialograum werden soll, liegt an uns allen. Vielfalt funktioniert nicht nur als Label, schon gar nicht im FOSS - & Text-Web. 🤷♂️🤔🇩🇪🇪🇺✅

So, how do you make money on youtube?
Ask 10 successful youtubers, and they'll tell you the same thing. Diversify. You don’t make significant money from the ad revenue. You make it from merch, or product deals, affiliate links. Youtube makes money from your content, you make money from using their platform to get your viewers off-platform to something that pays you better.
A while back, not terribly long. 3 or 4 years if memory serves, Youtube introduced something cool. A merch shelf. Directly below your content, you were able to link up your merch provider, and youtube would show 4 or 5 links to your own merch, right where your fans could see it. It was kinda a pain to configure, but once you had it, it was great. Your viewers had a direct line to your merch, you didnt have to link it in the description, or nag people in the video (though you could do those things for more eyeballs), but it was a nice thing they did to make it easier for us to actually do that diversification thing.
I personally never made a dime from it, im just not big enough, and its possible that bigger youtubers didnt either, but i thought it was an awesome gesture, helping creators make money on the platform.
Yesterday, i got an email from youtube. They're ditching the merch shelf in order to de-clutter the watch page. Remove the endless stream of shorts? no. Remove the ad overlays? no. Maybe tighten up the watch next panel? No. Remove the thing that gives the creator the most chance of making profit.
This just de-motivates me even more, and makes me want to embrace peertube (where i get no views, but at least im not being abused).

Today I found that i can run full android on linux using Waydroid.
Waydroid is container based layer and there is no translation layer so its so fast compared to the emulators.
Requries wayland supported desktop environment to run smoothly.
You can run any android app inside your pc using waydroid (aurora store: shown in the image)
It uses LineageOS as default so no google bloats.

I have a small script in Python that I and a few others use for specific purposes in IRC. I inherited the script, which was made using Gtk3 years ago. To integrate it more closely with the IRC program and make it available to other platforms besides Linux, I'm porting it to Qt6
I'm very much an amateur in all of this, but I'm discovering Gtk3 is simpler to use and, while I can get some results in Qt6 I couldn't in Gtk3, it's proving to be a real headache.
The worst part is all of it is for an IRC program that is no longer being developed and hasn't for a while. Python is the only language I feel comfortable in. Eventually we'll need to switch IRC programs, but I'm limping this along until another one offers Python scripting support.
I do enjoy learning more about the language though, this has only ever been a hobby for me.
