I have high trust in the #OpenSource community, so much good is brewing there. Things that are maturing and becoming all the more useful in everyday life for everyone. Boosted by that here in Europe funding is improving, as well as other resources needed - including from EU and a growing number of European countries.
Though much of this is going on somewhat invisible from the public arena and traditional media, where focus is mainly on all the crap commercial and other bad actors do.

@christopherstark since I've been tracking things (Feb 2023) #Mastodon users count has gone from 6 million to 10 million while the #Fediverse has gone from 7 million to 17 million. Mastodon's instance count has decreased from 12600 to 8700. I would guess that's small instances running something different as overall the count has gone from 20400 to 37700.
I have no idea about user counts on Bluesky so can't say if it is growing or not, nor at what rate.

If you're interested in #governance, the philosophy of open source and community decision making, the tension between top-down standardisation vs bottom up implementation – or just the direction of the #Fediverse – it's of interest and worth taking time out to read (or if time stretched, then until the brainstorming bit, or at the very least, the summary).
"The lack of governance and inability to have a say, leads to people not caring about the open standards, and it is only logical they act in this way. “Just do it” is simply the only pragmatic choice. But that credo is more value-aligned with Silicon Valley than it is with fediverse culture."
Some of the talented devs I know might be bored by it – it's a complexity that implies a friction to coding. But that shouldn't stop the rest of us understanding that in-between the Cathedral and the Bazaar there's a great garden, with both wild and cultivated elements, that needs taking care of…

Offensichtlich ist es #paypal shice egal dass auf ihrer Plattform Scammer operieren.
Es ist ja auch nicht so dass ich diesen Support Dialog direkt aus dem Kontext Menü der Transaktion eröffnen konnte. Nein, dazu muss man sich erst durch Menüs und Kataloge wühlen.
Und diese sinnfreie Frage am Ende. Ich will ja nicht _irgendeinen_ Konflikt melden. Es geht ja ausschließlich um diese spezifische Transaktion.
