Long format writing belongs on blogs where you can synthesize multiple ideas into a single thesis.
On these platforms, each idea should be discretely contained in on post — as I did in these 2 posts just now.
Also, those who want to boost/favorite can only boost/favorite only the single ideas they like.

I've been writing a book for 3 years that should have taken one. I'm now trying to publish it, so I'm jumping into something I know nothing about.

Im Buch „Freuden und Mühen der Arbeit“, Kapitel 7 „Energieübertragungstechnik“, beschreibt der Autor Alain de Botton auf unterhaltsame Weise die Wanderung mit einem der Gründer eines Strommasten-Fanvereins die Leitungen der Masten entlang.
Mit dieser Geschichte sind mir damals die Augen für die Ästhetik dieser Gebilde geöffnet worden. Seither fotografiere ich auch sie auf meinen Wanderungen.

I'd love it if the fediverse supported a little more hover operability. The whole multiple clicks workflow to follow a hashtag is clunky and annoying. (When you go back to the page, for example, it sometimes takes you to the top of the feed again, losing your place. So why would you get in the habit of clicking on hashtag links to follow them with that behavior?) I want to be able to hover over a hashtag and follow (or unfollow) it. Elk.zone is good for this but pixelfed doesn't play well there (nor many places). I'd also like to be able to hover over a user and be able to block their domain. There are a ton of other options but that one not being available is absurd.

And I think that against the holistic breadth and scope that I am exploring our fediverse #technology landscape, that is a fair assessment.
In this wild garden of our #fediverse commons, there exist different islands of green moss, sometimes barely touching, or with infurtile patches between them to be bridged, or actively repelling each other, lacking synergetic relationships that make furtile tendrils intertwine.

You absolutely can follow hashtags on this, however the user experience leaves a lot to be desired because the columns are small.
Turn on advanced web interface, click a hash tag, then 'pin' it. Here's where it gets sticky you have a lot of interests, so adding columns comes at a direct cost of how the ui feels and interacts especially if you are on a mobile device do not use advanced mode if you on a mobile device. You can add hash tags to those columns, along with ones you do not want. Pairs very nicely if you have some verbose filters as well. #mastodon #following
