Ein Aspekt, warum YouTube früher so einen starken Reiz hatte, war ein Gefühl von Selbstbestimmung.
Wir waren damals ans Fernsehen gewöhnt, wo andere bestimmt haben, was läuft und wann es läuft.
Schon der Receiver mit Aufnahmefunktion war eine starke Verbesserung.
Zusätzlich konnte man noch selber etwas "beitragen" und "das Programm" somit für andere verbessern/erweitern.
Mit der Zeit ist das immer weiter verloren gegangen, genauer abgeschafft worden.

Mit „Staatsräsonfunk“ hat Fabian Goldmann eine empirisch fundierte Studie vorgelegt, eine schonungslose Abrechnung mit der deutschen „Nahost“-Berichterstattung. Goldmann legt die systematischen Verzerrungen, Auslassungen und Rechtfertigungen in tausenden Beiträgen seit dem 7. Oktober offen. Die Diskrepanz zwischen dokumentierten Fakten und medialer Darstellung erscheint dabei nicht als Ausrutscher, sondern als strukturelles Prinzip – mit tiefen politischen und historischen Wurzeln. etos.media-Autor Sebastian Schröder arbeitet heraus, weshalb diese Studie einen wichtigen Beitrag zum Verständnis der deutschen Medienlandschaft und ihre eingebetteten Rassismen und Befangenheiten leisten kann.
Wer das Buch „Staatsräsonfunk – Deutsche Medien und der Genozid in Gaza“ von Fabian Goldmann in die Hand nimmt, sieht sie schon auf dem Umschlag, die Überschriften der deutschen Presse seit dem 7. Oktober 2023: „Die Barbaren sind unter uns“; „Die Terror-Klinik ist enttarnt“; „Free Palestine ist das neue Heil Hitler“; „Löst endlich das Palästinenserhilfswerk auf“; „Hamas versteckte Waffen in Baby-Brutkästen“; „Die begrenzte Operation Rafah“; „Können Journalisten Terroristen sein?“; „Tote nach Streit um Hilfsgüter“; „Manchmal ist es notwendig zu töten, um das Morden zu verhindern“. Diese Collage zeigt einen Bruchteil der deutschen Schlagzeilen seit dem 7. Oktober 2023 und so sind auf dem Buchumschlag zentrale Techniken der Einseitigkeit sichtbar: Verschleierung, Verharmlosung, Verdrehung, Rechtfertigung, Auslassung und Leugnung. Und unsichtbar daneben natürlich das Schweigen – das sprichwörtliche Totschweigen.
Viele haben sich nach wenigen Wochen entsetzt von den deutschen Medien abgewendet, denn der Widerspruch zwischen der Berichterstattung und den Bildern aus Gaza war zu groß. „Aber vielleicht kann dieses Buch zumindest jenen, die (…) in den letzten zwei Jahren regelmäßig fassungslos vor den Zeitungsseiten, Fernsehbildschirmen und Timelines saßen, vermitteln, dass nicht sie die Verrücktgewordenen sind.“
Goldmann hat deshalb gezählt, was wirklich veröffentlicht worden ist. Seine Studie arbeitet empirisch und kann dadurch die erschreckende Realität in Deutschland sichtbar machen.
Dazu hat er einflussreiche und politisch breit gestreute Medienerzeugnisse (BILD, Spiegel, taz, tagesschau, Zeit) im Zeitraum vom 7. Oktober 2023 bis zum 19. Januar 2025 und zum Teil darüber hinaus analysiert. Es handelt sich um insgesamt 11.125 Beiträge zum Thema „Nahost“. Zusätzlich werden die meinungsbildenden Polit-Talkshows „Anne Will“, „Maischberger“, „Markus Lanz“, „Maybritt Illner“ und „Hart aber fair“ betrachtet.
Goldmann legt die maßgebliche „Analyse des Medien-Bias“ vor, so Ilan Pappe im Vorwort. Eigentlich müsste das Erscheinen von „Staatsräsonfunk“ die deutsche Medienlandschaft durch die Fülle des Sichtbargewordenen erschüttern, und mit jedem Kapitel nimmt das Entsetzen des Lesenden zu. Das zufällig Beobachtete wird nun als Selbstverständnis der überwältigenden Mehrzahl aller Veröffentlichungen nachgewiesen.
Den deutschen Diskurs haben zu Anfang die Lüge von den „40 geköpften Babys“, den in jedem angegriffenen Krankenhaus versteckten 138 (!) „Hamas-Kommandozentralen“ und andere als falsch nachgewiesene Pressemeldungen bestimmt. So wurde der Generalverdacht gegenüber palästinensischen Menschen, arabischen Menschen, Muslimen und Pro-Palästina-Aktivist*innen in Deutschland gesetzt (und verstärkt), und zugleich wurde „jüdisch“ mit Israel amalgamiert. Beide Prozesse weist der Autor empirisch nach.
