Oft denke ich darüber nach, wie künftige Generationen auf die heutige Zeit im Rückblick schauen werden.
Aus meiner Warte begann der Niedergang der "westlichen" Hegemonie mit dem Terrorangriff am 11. Sep. 2001. Daraufhin hat sich die #USA im #Irakkrieg und in #Afghanistan finanziell übernommen und hatte wegen der wirtschaftlichen Schwierigkeiten große innenpolitische Probleme, die zu einer Radikalisierung der Gesellschaft und einem #Trump führten. Der geschwächte Hegemon wurde vom rivalisierenden #China und seinen Verbündeten herausgefordert. In dieser Auseinandersetzung kamen weder die USA noch Großbritannien ihren Verteidigungspflichten nach und haben die #Ukraine nur halbherzig gegen die frühere Weltmacht Russland verteidigt. (Die UdSSR war Russland inklusive der eroberten und unterjochten Völkern.) Die Nachbarländer der neuen Weltmacht China haben sich mit diesem arrangiert und vom alten Hegemon abgewendet, was dessen Niedergang nur noch beschleunigte.

Käytän aika paljon Threadsia. En siksi, että pitäisin Metasta, vaan koska tykkään olla kärryillä laajemmista ilmiöistä. Threadsissa on myös paljon AI-puolen sovelluskehittäjiä, tech-ihmisiä ja designereitä, joita ei Fedissä ole.
Postaan Threadsiin samat kuin muuallekin poislukien AI/vibekoodausjutut, jotka aiheuttaisivat täällä joukkolynkkaamista sekä keskustelut tietenkin ihmisten kanssa, jotka postaavat vain siellä. Threadsista on tavallaan tullut kuin Twitter, kun kaikki ovat siirtyneet sinne, mutta siellä on parempi moderointi ja suurin osa Fedin suojausmekanismeista (sanamutetus, rajoittaminen, mutetus, jne).
Threadsista piti tulla osa Fediversumia ja olin kiinnostunut tekniikan kehittymisestä. Jenkeissähän se onnistuikin yksisuuntaisesti, esim @barackobama voi seurara täältä, mutta kehitys tyrehtyi. Elättelin salaa naiivia toivoa siitä, että EU:n myötä Meta kytkisi Fedi-yhteensopivuuden kaikkialle käyttöön ja jollain tapaa alkaisi toimia sen myötä eettisemmin. Mutta niin ei koskaan tapahtunut.
Threadsin moderoinnista voi olla montaa mieltä, mutta enimmäkseen öyhöt pysyy pois kommenteista. X:ssä sai jokaiseen tusinan paskakommentteja. Threadsissa moista ei tapahdu.
Viime aikoina Threadsin algoritmiseinällä mennään kohusta toiseen. "62 miljoonaa miestä" on erityisesti trendannut (CNN:n paljastusreportaasi), jonka narratiivissa olet raiskari ja osa ongelmaa, jos puutut misinformaatioon. Threadissa kärjistetään ja pöyristytään jatkuvasti. Aina jotakuta ollaan seivästämässä. Jättäydyn yleensä pois kokonaan näistä keskusteluista.
Näistä huolimatta olen Threadsissa ja viihdyn siellä enimmäkseen. Kai tämä on jonkinlaista maailman paskuuden hyväksymistä myös osaltaan. Porukka noituu, että Microsoft, Google, Meta ja moni muu on maailman pahinta kastia. Mutta näistä on käytännössä mahdotonta irroittautua, esimerkiksi yrittäminen ja sitä kautta toimeentuloni lakkaisi kokonaan jos lopettaisin LinkedInin (Microsoft), GitHubin (Microsoft), Google Workspacen (olen jälleenmyyjä), Metan Businessin käyttämisen.

Как я перестал копипастить одно и то же в каждом Django-проекте и собрал boilerplate
Каждый раз, когда начинаешь новый SaaS-проект на Django, первые две недели уходят на одно и то же. Сначала — кастомная модель пользователя с UUID вместо integer PK, потому что потом не переедешь. Потом JWT-аутентификация, настройка SimpleJWT, написание RegisterView , LoginView , LogoutView — всё это уже было в прошлом проекте, но лежит в другом репозитории и просто так не скопируешь. Дальше Docker Compose: сервисы web , db , redis , celery , celery-beat , flower — шесть штук, которые надо поднять и связать между собой. Потом разбираться с Celery, который в новой версии изменил синтаксис конфига. Stripe webhooks с идемпотентностью — отдельная история. Мультиарендность, роли, permissions — ещё неделя. В итоге к первой рабочей фиче добираешься к концу третьей недели. Добавь сюда ещё один нюанс: каждый раз это проект с немного другим стеком. Где-то Kafka вместо Redis, где-то allauth с самого начала, где-то биллинг на пользователя, а не на команду. Но ядро остаётся одним: каждый раз перед стартом ты тратишь одинаково одни и те же две недели. Вот это и хотелось исправить. Я прошёл через это несколько раз и в какой-то момент решил, что хватит. Собрал Django SaaS boilerplate под названием Shipyard — не как набор сниппетов в Notion, а как полноценный, готовый к production репозиторий, который можно клонировать и сразу писать продуктовую логику. В этой статье разберу, что там внутри, почему выбраны именно эти компоненты и какие конкретные технические решения показались мне наиболее интересными.

Now, I'm mainly going by anecdotal evidence of this happening, but it definitely feels like it comes up often enough when people discuss giving up on the fediverse, or not being interested in joining.
And I get the need for a mechanism for deleting potentially illegal content. That makes sense, definitely important.
But maybe it's worth opening a conversation on how to better address this, because "here's a list of followers and follows you lost, good luck" is not a great solution.
Maybe after there's a way to migrate and bring your posting history, if and whenever Mastodon supports that.
