A good thread on some of lessons learned pertaining to centralized dependencies revealed by the Bluesky April 15 outage. In particular, issues relating to #Eurosky and #Blacksky and the complexity of actually creating systems that federate on AT Protocol.

Prediction: AI in open source projects is going to become not only inevitable but necessary.
The reason is that the latest generation of AI appears to be very good at vulnerability identification. This unfortunately means that the tempo of the measure countermeasure race increases rapidly. As consequence, any popular open source project that isn't doing some form of automation to patch exploits will be at significant risk of being swamped by automation identifying exploits in that software.

I've been deep diving into this YouTube channel. It has great non-binary and neurodivergent (especially autistic) content.
The one thing that keeps catching me off guard is that they are framing neurodivergence as a disability. Is that a cultural thing that I missed (they are in the UK)? Or is it the perception of this YouTuber? I've always framed it as a different type of brain and way of looking at the world.
I'll still keep watching and supporting their content, but it's something that keeps niggling me.

Moje konto na LinkedIn zostało przejęte.
To, że mój mail wyciekł, specjalnie mnie nie zaskakuje: w końcu ludzie na LinkedIn mają dostęp do waszych adresów, a że w jakiejś firmie wyciekły dane to cóż, plus mail wysyłany w CV.
Niepokoi mnie jednak kilka kwestia, że o 12:58 został wysłany na maila kod PIN a potem wszystko poszło z górki: zmiana hasła, dodanie alternatywnych maili, usunięcie telefonu i dodanie innego.
Czy mogę domniemywać że ktoś jednak miał nieuprawniony dostęp do mojego maila (na Posteo)? Nie mogę znaleźć logów, czy dobrze skontaktować się z Posteo z zapytaniem o logi z logowań?
Co do LinkedIna to chętnie bym to odkręcił ale... Moje konto miało tam dwie bolączki: łatwe do odgadnięcia przez "słownik" hasło plus i to mam do sprawdzenia, w jaki sposób przechwycono PIN wysłany na moją skrzynkę.

It’s interesting that the USA and Russia are displaying the same lack of adaptability as smaller countries, Iran and Ukraine.

I have a feeling Meta did this intentionally to scour out more data from elsewhere on the Internet (aka the Fediverse) because it just wasn't enough for them, as usual and used the universal goodwill of "connecting" people - while still keeping them ignorant about the fact that the Fediverse, even exists in the first place.

Impostors are very nice! Even when nothing in your game state changes, you still render every frame anew. With impostors, you can "bake" the render of an object and then draw it cheaply as a texture.
Each stack here is 4 pieces, 12 draw calls. Impostor makes it just 1 draw call for the whole stack!

Welcome back science fiction enthusiasts, 20th century pop culture enthusiasts, Star Wars fans and comic book collectors! Today we go back to the year 1996 to examine the 3rd chapter of a very notable Star Wars storyline that took place between the films The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi…Shadows of the Empire!
With the first two issues of Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire released (click here and here), the overall concept of the storyline has firmly been set and with sub-plots moving. This includes characters and developments that were not reflected nor referenced at in Return of the Jedi. At this stage, there is both excitement and suspense to look forward to.
With those details laid down, here is a look back at Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire #3, published in 1996 by Dark Horse Comics with a story written by John Wagner and drawn by Kilian Plunkett. This is the 3rd chapter of the 6-issue mini-series.
The cover.Early story
The story begins with the gang of Gizman – including the newcomer Jix – who visit Jabba The Hutt in his palace for an important meeting. After expressing doubt about Jix, Jabba tells the gang that he is aware of Luke Skywalker’s presence in Tatooine and he has been signed near the former dwelling of Ben Kenobi. Jabba finds Skywalker more valuable to him dead. A short time later, Jix asked why does Jabba want Skywalker dead when Darth Vader will on pay for him to be living. This causes a bit of tension within the gang.
With R2D2 present with him at Obi-Wan’s old place, Luke Skywalker completed his brand-new lightsaber. Suddenly a laser blast almost hits them both and Luke realizes that the gang (which just met Jabba) is fast approaching them. The laser blast came from Jix who was told to hold his fire. Moments later, Luke takes down the first gang member who arrived using his new lightsaber…
Quality
Having the frozen Han Solo makes Boba Fett a target of those who want the prize.Like issue #2, the intrigue and twists kept on happening as the pay-offs to the previous issue’s build-up got executed. Indeed, the story here moved Shadows of the Empire’s concept forward gradually and what was shown is both entertaining and engaging.
You will see here Luke Skywalker’s first-ever use of his then new green-colored lightsaber (the same one in Return of the Jedi) as he becomes a target of Jabba The Hutt who has a violent gang targeting him. Dash Rendar, arguably a creative stand-in for Han Solo in this storyline and also the playable protagonist in the Nintendo 64 video game, becomes even more important as he took the risk of involving himself with Luke as the gang attacked. The interaction between Dash and Luke here is believable to follow and makes a lot of sense within the context of this storyline.
What I found captivating here was the scene in which Darth Vader actually (and bravely) objected to Emperor Palpatine’s plan. The scene was pretty short but it was a powerful display of tension and even division between them. Along the way, Prince Xizor remains relevant with regards to the potential events waiting to happen while more of Boba Fett’s struggle being targeted (as the frozen body of Han Solo is a very valuable prize for other bounty hunters) by others was dramatized nicely.
Conclusion
Luke Skywalker, Dash Rendar and R2D2.Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire #3 (1996) succeeded in moving the story developments forward while ending up being entertaining enough. The speed bike chase in Beggar’s Canyon along was exhilarating to see and the dramatic moments of the sub-plots had impact. Right now, I am convinced to keep on reading more of Shadows of the Empire.
Overall, Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire #3 (1996) is recommended.

Rockwell Land’s Profit Jumps Almost 28% On Residential And Leasing Gains
Rockwell Land, the company behind the high-end Rockwell Center and the Alabang Town Center (ATC), saw its profit jump almost 28% on residential and leasing gains, according to a news report by BusinessWorld.

ROCKWELL LAND Corp. reported a 27.6% increase in attributable net income to P4.73 billion for 2025 from P3.71 billion in 2024, driven by higher residential revenues, growth in leasing income, and gains from the acquisition and consolidation of Alabang Commercial Corp. (ACC).
Total consolidated revenues rose 3.9% to P20.87 billion from P20.09 billion a year earlier, with residential sales accounting for about 75% of revenues, while commercial leasing contributed around 21%, the company said in its annual report released on Wednesday.
Residential revenues increased by 5% on higher project completion, while retail and leasing income grew 6% due to improved rental rates and occupancy.
Earnings were also supported by “the gain on the acquisition and consolidation of ACC” and increased contributions from affiliates.
Expenses rose during the period, with selling expenses increasing 9% due to higher sales bookings and project completions, while interest expense went up 11% on higher borrowing costs and loan balances.
Cost of real estate declined by 5%, partly offsetting the increase in expenses, while interest income fell 18% due to lower returns on contract receivables and short-term placements.
Income before tax rose to P6.72 billion from P5.30 billion in 2024. Provision for income tax increased to P1.41 billion, bringing net income to P5.31 billion for the year.
Reservation sales jumped 62% to P25.3 billion, driven by “strong demand for newly launched projects.”

"ProPublica scrutinized what happened the last time Trump lost a national election. Some of that happened in plain sight: After a cascade of defeats in court, Trump began pressuring state and local officials to overturn the results. But more happened behind the scenes, like the meeting that helped persuade Barr to hold the line.
Our reporting uncovered previously undisclosed aspects of a federal effort to safeguard the results of the 2020 vote, which involved at least 75 people across several agencies. Today, nearly all of those people are gone, having resigned, been fired or been reassigned, particularly in the departments of Justice and Homeland Security. That included the cybersecurity specialists who had established that the Antrim County allegations were false and reported their findings to Barr.
The people we identified as resisting attempts to overturn the 2020 results have been replaced by roughly two dozen people Trump has installed in positions that could affect elections. Ten of them actively worked to reverse the 2020 vote, and the rest are associates of such people. In some cases, ProPublica found, officials have been hired from activist groups that are pillars of the election denial movement. Experts warn that shows the movement has merged with the federal government.
These new officials could influence how Trump reacts to the upcoming midterms as polling shows Republicans are approaching what could be a significant electoral loss, with the president’s approval rating nearing record lows, and public concern growing about the weak economy, the administration’s mass deportation effort and the war on Iran. Seemingly in preparation to head off such a blow, Trump has stepped up his efforts to “nationalize” the 2026 elections, saying that Republicans need “to take over” the midterms."
