Great news!! A fast, butterfly (aka FFT-like), implementation of the Noiselet Transform [1] is now integrated into the LazyLinop toolbox [2] – “a python toolbox to ease and accelerate computations with (“matrix-free”) linear operators.” Thank you to Pascal Carrivain and Rémi Gribonval from the OCKHAM/INRIA team [3], in ENS Lyon, France (where I’m currently invited for a sabbatical year in 25-26) for this implementation. The idea came from common discussions we had together (I share my office with Pascal at ENS Lyon) about possible additional butterfly transformations to complete the (already long) list of operators integrated to LazyLinop. The whole Noiselet Tansform (and its inverse) is described here in the LazyLinop documentation, with a demonstration code in python. Enjoy!

I serien "Facebook feiler": får opp et varsel om at en 4 år gammel annonse ikke ble kjørt (hvorfor nå?) fordi den inneholdt "urealistiske før- og etter-bilder". Annonsen var for kvinnedagen i 2022 og inneholdt bilder av noen inviterte talere/bidragsytere.

FRA WINDOWS TIL LINUX
På initiativ fra den franske premierminister afholdt Frankrig den 8. april 2026 sit hidtil mest omfattende tværministerielle seminar med det klare formål at reducere Frankrigs digitale afhængighed af ikke-europæiske udbydere. DINUM, der er det tværministerielle direktorat for digitale anliggender, stod sammen med generaldirektoratet for virksomheder (DGE), Frankrigs nationale cybersikkerhedsagentur (ANSSI) og det statslige indkøbsdirektorat (DAE) for arrangementet.
I flere år har den franske regering talt om digital suverænitet, men nu bliver der for alvor sat handling bag ordene.
“Vi kan ikke længere acceptere, at vores data, infrastruktur og strategiske beslutninger er afhængige af løsninger, hvis regler, priser, udvikling og risici, vi ikke kontrollerer. Overgangen er i gang: Vores ministerier, operatører og industrielle partnere iværksætter nu et hidtil uset initiativ for at kortlægge vores afhængigheder og styrke vores digitale suverænitet” som David Amiel, minister for offentlig handling og offentlige regnskaber sagde.
I Frankrig er det allerede annonceret, at man i det offentlige system hurtigst muligt vil bevæge sig væk fra Windows til fordel for arbejdsstationer, der kører Linux operativsystemet.
FRA PC’ER TIL AI
På seminariet den 8. april fastslog DINUM, at alle (!) franske ministerier inklusive operatører skal formalisere sin egen plan frem mod digital uafhængighed inden efteråret 2026 med fokus på følgende områder:
✅ arbejdsstationer
✅ samarbejdsværktøjer
✅ antivirus software
✅ kunstig intelligens
✅ databaser
✅ virtualisering
✅ netværksudstyr
Disse handlingsplaner vil danne baggrund for at fastsætte et mere præcist kvantificeret reduktionsmål med en klar tidslinje.
EN STRATEGISK NØDVENDIGHED
Det lyder fra franskmændene at digital suverænitet er en “strategisk nødvendighed” og at “Staten kan ikke længere blot anerkende sin afhængighed; den skal bryde fri fra den”.
Tiden går og der er endnu ikke dannet en regering i Danmark her godt en måned efter valgdagen. Måske var det en ide at den kongelige undersøger Mette Frederiksen samlede partilederne til et seminar om #digitaluafhængighed?
Digital uafhængighed er måske mindre sexet end kunstig intelligens, men det er mindst ligeså afgørende for Danmarks, og Europas, fremtid i den nye verdensorden. Til sådan et seminar kunne man jo passende invitere vores @fonsmark som oplægsholder, ligesom han i foråret sidste år deltog i konferencer arrangeret af den franske stat om digital uafhængighed.

After an exhaustive sleepless night of pain, the old man drags his breathless lifeless corpse out of a sunken bed of jagged shards of thorny rocky steel, unable to yet see as the classical music plays he drags himself across the floor to prepare his coffee, as his hands shake and tremble he pours in the water and counts the scoops of grind, fumbling he manages to plug in the percolator and as the coffee begins to perc, he shuffles off to the toilet where his bowels bellow out in a hungerous rage, in the mirror the reflection of a tired old man staring into the abyss shows his disheveled hair and beard to tired to care he stumbles back to his bed, he struggles to pull on his socks and pants he slips on his slippers pours a cup of coffee and gently packs his pipe with scraps of tobacco, he pulls on his coat and steps out the door, the morning is dark and wet, the air cool and moist, as the world begins to move in the rain not a soul cares for the horrish plight of life the old man must endure yet another day;
