a) Die großen werbefinanzierten Plattformen, machen diese gern kaputt (oder lassen sich die API Zugänge teuer bezahlen).
b) Die Potentiale jeder Plattform bleiben ungenutzt, also auch die Potentiale des #Fediverse Insbesondere zur besseren Gesprächen. (Also Reaktionen und Beiträgen, nicht nur in eine Richtung senden.)
Anders gesagt: die Werkzeuge neigen dazu eher für die großen Plattformen zu sein.

C’è stato un tempo in cui ogni foto su Instagram doveva essere perfetta: luce giusta, filtro calibrato, didascalia studiata. Poi sono arrivate le Storie, a rompere la rigidità. Ora, però, il social prova a fare un passo ulteriore: cancellare del tutto la costruzione. O quasi. Si chiama Instants ed è l’ultimo esperimento della piattaforma: contenuti che nascono e muoiono nel giro di un attimo, senza possibilità di ritocchi, senza archivio, senza seconde possibilità. Una funzione che sembra voler dire agli utenti: o sei vero, o non sei.
Instants è costruita attorno a un principio semplice: immediatezza totale. Non si può caricare nulla dalla galleria, niente recuperi strategici o ricordi ben selezionati. Si scatta, o si registra, e si invia. Fine. Il contenuto può essere condiviso con tutti i follower o con una cerchia ristretta, ma la sua vita è brevissima: una sola visualizzazione e poi sparisce. Se nessuno lo apre, si autodistrugge comunque entro 24 ore. Una comunicazione usa e getta, quasi brutale nella sua essenzialità.
Più estrema delle Storie
Il confronto con le Storie è inevitabile, ma anche fuorviante. Le Storie, ormai, sono diventate una vetrina parallela: curate, archiviate, spesso persino programmate. Instants va nella direzione opposta. Qui non c’è spazio per il perfezionismo: niente filtri, niente editing niente replay. Se le Storie raccontano una giornata, gli Instants catturano un secondo.
C’è anche un altro elemento chiave: il controllo. Le interazioni sono limitate, la diffusione è più ristretta, e soprattutto manca quella dimensione performativa che domina il resto della piattaforma. Non si tratta più di accumulare visualizzazioni o costruire un’identità coerente, ma di condividere qualcosa che, per definizione, non lascia traccia. Una comunicazione che assomiglia più a un messaggio privato che a un post pubblico.

There was a time when every photo on Instagram had to be perfect: the right light, calibrated filter, studied caption. Then Stories arrived, to break the rigidity. However, now the social media platform is trying to take another step: to completely erase the construction. Or almost. It’s called Instants and is the platform’s latest experiment: content that is born and dies in a matter of seconds, without the possibility of retouching, without an archive, without second chances. A function that seems to be telling users: you are either true, or you are not.
Instants is built around a simple principle: total immediacy. You cannot load anything from the gallery, no strategic retrieves or carefully selected memories. You take a picture or record a video, and you send it. End. The content can be shared with all followers or a small circle, but its life is very short: one view and then it disappears. If no one opens it, it still autodestructs within 24 hours. A disposable communication, almost brutal in its essentiality.
More extreme than Stories
The comparison with Stories is inevitable, but also misleading. Stories have now become a parallel showcase: curated, archived, often even programmed. Instants goes in the opposite direction. Here there is no room for perfectionism: no filters, no editing, no replays. If Stories tell a day, Instants capture a second.
There is also another key element: control. Interactions are limited, the spread is more restricted, and above all, there is no performance dimension that dominates the rest of the platform. It’s no longer about accumulating views or building a consistent identity, but sharing something that, by definition, leaves no trace. A communication that resembles more a private message than a public post.
