I have released version 1.15 of slixmpp, the python XMPP library.
Besides the continuation of @nicoco ’s quest to add every XEP under the sun, the most notable change is that building the rust module is now optional (i.e. in the absence of sufficient tools, slixmpp will happily be installed using the pure-python fallback for the JID module, which is kind of important for Mac OS or Winslop platforms).

Innerhalb kurzer Zeit sehe ich via #BlueskyBridge und #Mastodon immer neue #Threema-#Troll-Accounts, auf verschiedensten Instanzen, die immer wieder nach dem gleichen Muster agieren. Codes für Threema verschenken (wirkt teilweise wie offizielle Marketing Aktionen), aber sonst sehr bösartig daherkommen und andere angreifen, beleidigen und Unwahrheiten behaupten.
Große Bitte an euch, diesen Accounts keine Reichweite bieten auch wenn diese euch als Gegenleistung irgendwas schenken wollen ... 😕

Signal hat natürlich Nachteile. Allen voran dass es der Dienst aus den #USA kommt und auf #AmazonAWS liegt. Die Daten sind zwar dank #e2e #verschlusselung sicher. Trotzdem Kann der Dienst theoretisch abgeschaltet werden.
#Threema hat seine Server dagegen in der datenschutzfreundlichen Schweiz, und gilt als sehr sicher. Die Serversoftware ist nicht #OSS. Threema bekommt man nicht Kostenlos, und ich hatte dort kaum Kontakte.

So, I've just made it easier to join my XMPP server... With the help of Claude, I wrote a custom Python/Flask piece of middleware that allows people to request an invite to my eJabberd server. The key thing is that it uses CloudFlare Turnstile to provide an accessible way for screen reader users to verify that they are a human being and not a bot, plus it's rate limited so invite requests aren't hammered. If you're interested in beta testing an account on my server, visit https://poquito.dev/register to obtain an invite. I will also add that I now have bridges to Discord, Telegram and WhatsApp as part of my server. Still coming up with a plan to host Movim there too, so right now you'll have to use another Movim instance to access my server if that's your preferred web-based client. ConverseJS has been dropped entirely from the server as it has accessibility issues and I don't recommend using it. It's incredible how many projects completely break when you use a different default name for #Git remotes. I changed if from "origin" to "upstream" a long time ago and I already encountered 3 projects that break just because of that change. The latest one to break seems to be x264.
