Information overload, people are flooded with so many claims that they cannot process or verify them. This creates confusion and mental fatigue. Because the trump lies are blatantly false people feel that nothing can be trusted. Research shows that citizens exposed to this tactic often conclude that truth is unknowable, which destroys the foundation for rational debate.
This leads to disengagement from news, politics and fact‑checking. Lies become familiar through repetition. This is a well‑documented psychological effect.
