The high-fidelity music available for download at the music site is absolutely what I heard when mastering. It is of better quality than the PeerTube streams (equivalent to YouTube), and much better than the samplers on the music site, which are inferior to the PeerTube streams.
Faircamp AIFF (from the music site) > PeerTube (the streaming site) > samplers at the music site.
You can compare all 3 for the 2 albums I've posted on Faircamp by visiting, streaming, and downloading.

Folks, if you go to a Faircamp site, there are usually multiple sources for download. The low-fidelilty files you can stream are there to give you a sampler of what you could download in high fidelity.
I use PeerTube for streaming, and those streams are considerably better than the low-fidelity samplers at my Faircamp site.
Faircamp is for downloads. You can get 100% exactly what I recorded from the highest-fidelity choice, which is an AIFF file, Apple's version of a WAV file.
Use PeerTube for streaming, and Faircamp for downloading.
