AMOS Stealer delivered via Cursor AI agent session
On April 23, 2026, Field Effect MDR identified AMOS Stealer malware delivered through a novel technique exploiting Cursor AI agent sessions running Claude Code. The attack employed social engineering to manipulate operators into prompting the AI agent to download and execute malicious AppleScript loaders. The heavily obfuscated scripts performed sandbox evasion checks, collected sensitive data including credentials, SSH keys, browser data, and cryptocurrency wallets, then exfiltrated compressed archives to remote servers within two minutes. The malware prompted users for local account credentials through fake macOS system dialogs, subsequently using elevated permissions to install persistent implants masquerading as legitimate system services. This delivery mechanism makes detection challenging as malicious commands blend with typical agentic coding behavior, representing an evolution in AMOS Stealer tactics beyond traditional SEO poisoning methods.

And I'd really wish there'd be an official FAQ-site/an overview listing all the official Mastodon features for private, business, admin and moderator accounts. Stating also how these (if necessary) work/what they do.
It should also say, what admins can do eg. limit an account and what that does and if the affected person will get notified about it automatically etc.. @Mastodon
This would help, because most server are run by private person and while a lot of them seem technically very experienced, many unfortunately do lack community management and communication skills and/or they are just overwhelmed with the responsibilities that come with this role.

Moving away from WordPress – important* info
When I started this blog in 2017, I picked WordPress almost at random, just so I could get started with something. And it has worked well enough.
But:
- it’s not cheap
- it’s a pain to make layout adjustments
- the post editor is clunky and sluggish
- WordPress.com sites are at least partially hosted in the US.
Because my blog is essentially a static website (comments section aside), I’ve decided to switch to a static site generator (Eleventy/Build Awesome) and a fully European web hosting provider (statichost.eu), which offers a free tier for small sites like mine.
How this might affect you
If you follow the blog, this will be the last post you’ll be notified about. After that, there will be:
- no more email updates
- no more WordPress notifications
- no more Mastodon cross-posting.
If you still want to hear from me
The transponderings blog is not dead, and I do plan to post from time to time (when my AuDHD brain allows!).
You will be able to:
