My 4th Fediversary was this past Saturday, April 25th.
At the time, I started our with an account on Mastodon Dot Social after fleeing from Twitter. I do not regret leaving.
Being on a smaller Instance has been better. Better moderation, overall, for the most part. And I've been enjoying separating my manga / anime / music content from my video game posts over at @mdmrn@mstdn.games. This is new, for me, but I've been enjoying it. It keeps the two lists a little more focused.
Anyway, here's to many more years on the Fediverse.

Lesezeit 11 Minuten – wird vorsichtshalber mitgeteilt. Für mache Zeitgenossen bedeutet das schon eine ziemliche Herausforderung, lesen doch viele Menschen gerade noch die Überschriften, um sich einen Überblick zu verschaffen, was so los ist in der Welt.
Ich gebe es gerne zu, ich mache es auch so, weil ich unmöglich alle mir angebotenen Schreiben, Nachrichten, Notizen, Erklärungen lesen kann – und riskiere dabei, dass mir wertvolle Informationen entgehen. Schlimmer noch ist es jedoch, wenn ich mich NUR auf Überschriften verlasse, weil diese schönen Schlagworte oft nicht halten, was sie versprechen, bzw. einem Text vorstehen, der inhaltlich das genaue Gegenteil bedeutet, von dem, was so schlagmächtig angekündigt wird. Besonders beliebt ist das in der Berichterstattung über den schwierigsten Konflikt, den die Welt gerade zu bieten hat. Da liest man schon mal solche Schlagzeilen wie: „Israel missachtet den Waffenstillstand und antwortet auf die HAMAS“. Die meisten Leute müssten sich ja eigentlich fragen, warum nicht der Angriff der HAMAS hervorgehoben wird, doch leider rastet bei „Israel missachtet“ schon das bekannte Vorurteil ein : Israel macht mal wieder Stress – und so spart man sich das genaue Lesen und kommt erst gar nicht dazu, mehr über den Angriff der HAMAS zu erfahren.
Also dann:

Am 7. Oktober 2023 wurde die moralische Verkommenheit westlicher Politiker, Journalisten, radikaler Feministinnen und Kommentatoren in ihrer ganzen Tragweite offenbart.
So beginnt ein langer Text von Nils A. Haug, den zu lesen ich hier empfehle. (Original kursiv gesetzt)
Es ist leider notwendig, immer wieder daran zu erinnern:
An jenem Morgen drangen Tausende von Dschihadisten der Hamas in Israel ein und ermordeten rund 1.200 Menschen; Tausende weitere wurden verletzt, wobei viele Opfer vergewaltigt oder gefoltert wurden. Wehrlose Zivilisten wurden abgeschlachtet, darunter ältere Männer und Frauen sowie Säuglinge. Hamas-Terroristen entführten 251 weitere Menschen und schleppten sie als Geiseln in die Terrortunnel von Gaza; 85 von ihnen überlebten nicht.
Ich würde – wenn ich je wetten würde – darauf wetten, dass viele Menschen bereits nach diesem Introitus die Augen verdrehen und innerlich oder sogar lauthals „Nicht schon wieder!“ sagen.
Doch schon wieder! Denn nur aus diesen ersten Sätzen leitet sich das ab, was gegenwärtig zu beobachten ist, das mediale Ringen um die Deutungshoheit aller sich aus dem 7. Oktober ergebenden Konsequenzen. Ich muss das sicher nicht gesondert ausführen, es reicht, wenn ich auf die wöchentlichen Aufmärsche der propalästinensischen Krawallmacher in vielen Städtne Deutschland hinweise, die ihre widerwärtige Forderung nach der Befreieung „Palästinas“ dem naiven Publikum ins Ohr brüllen dürfen. Naiv ist das Publikum, weil es eben nicht ganze Texte, sondern allenfalls Schlagzeilen liest, denn sonst wüsste es doch, dass „Free Palestine“ nicht die Zweistaatenlösung meint, sondern die Auslöschung des Staates Israel und müsste doch augenblicklich die Schreihälse in die Schranken weisen, denn wer will in Deutschland immer noch, dass ein Land einfach ausgelöscht wird? Obwohl, wenn ich so manch einen Kommentar unter entsprechendne Berichten lese, da scheinen viele den Slogan immer noch nicht verstehen zu können oder wollen – es haben doch wirklich genug Leute darüber geschrieben und es mit wahrer Engelsgeduld zu erklären versucht – und stimmen klammheimlich den Vernichtungsphantasien der HAMAS-Propagandisten zu.
Darum „11 Minuten Lesezeit“
Möglicherweise motiviert durch Judenhass, der sich hinter selbstgerechter neomarxistischer „sozialer Gerechtigkeit“ verbirgt, versuchten viele im Westen, die mit islamistischen Terroristen sympathisieren, innerhalb weniger Stunden, die Gräueltaten der Hamas zu rechtfertigen, indem sie Israel die Schuld gaben. Die Vorwürfe gegen Israel lauteten, es verweigere einem erfundenen palästinensischen Volk, das „nicht existiert“, wie der hochrangige PLO-Vertreter Zoheir Mohsen 1977 in der niederländischen Tageszeitung Trouw zugab, vermeintliche Rechte.
Ungeachtet dessen erheben sie weiterhin haltlose Ansprüche auf das angestammte Land der Juden, auf dem Juden seit fast 4.000 Jahren ununterbrochen leben und das ausdrücklich als „Judäa“ bezeichnet wird, sowie auf das Versäumnis Israels, das umzusetzen, was – laut den Palästinensern selbst – eine „Zweistaatenlösung“ wäre, die darauf abzielt, so viel Land wie möglich zu ergattern und es als Basis zu nutzen, um den Rest zu erobern.
Ab hier bitte ich um das Nachlesen an Ort und Stelle
Ich werde nur einige Sätze des Textes kopieren, wie diese, zum Beispiel, die „uns“ in Deutschland direkt betreffen:
Trotz Deutschlands beschämender historischer Behandlung der Juden scheinen viele Menschen heute diesen historischen Gräueltaten gegenüber gleichgültig zu sein. Mitte April 2026 besass der deutsche Bundeskanzler Friedrich Merz die Herzlosigkeit, Dreistigkeit und Unsensibilität, Premierminister Netanjahu für das zu kritisieren, was Merz als Israels „de facto-Annexion des Westjordanlands“ bezeichnete – Israels rechtmässiges Kernland Judäa und Samaria.
„Ein Volk, das sich nicht mehr erinnert“, erklärte der russische Dissident und Schriftsteller Alexander Solschenizyn 1976, „hat seine Geschichte und seine Seele verloren.“
Wir müssen uns jetzt erinnern, jeden Tag, wenn auf den Straßen der antiisraelische Mob tobt, wenn Schmierereien an Hauswänden erscheinen, die an die schlimmst Zeit des „Stürmer“s erinnert, wenn wir unsere Seele verhärten gegen das Leid der Juden in Israel und die Furcht unserer jüdischen Nachbarn vor dem, was die Zukunft bringen könnte, denn auch diese Feststellung des Autors trifft leider zu:
Es ist offensichtlich, dass die Feindseligkeit gegenüber Juden nie verschwunden ist; erneut ist die Gefahr akut geworden.
Die düstere Perspektive, die Nils A. Haug anspricht, lässt sich nicht mit diplomatischen Worten kleinreden:
Israel steht möglicherweise fast ganz allein gegen die Hasser dieser Welt. Je nach dem jeweiligen politischen Klima ist zu erwarten, dass die internationalen Staats- und Regierungschefs grösstenteils abwesend bleiben oder gar schweigen werden, wenn Israels Feinde das Land erneut angreifen – was sie mit Sicherheit tun werden. Wie historische Ereignisse zeigen, können sich Israel und das Judentum insgesamt nicht vollständig auf den Schutz des Westens verlassen.
„Was habt ihr uns angetan, ihr freiheitsliebenden Völker, ihr Hüter der Gerechtigkeit, Verteidiger der hohen Prinzipien der Demokratie und der Brüderlichkeit der Menschen?“, fragte Ben-Gurion 1944 angesichts der Apathie und des Schweigens des Westens während des Holocaust.
Schweigen wir nicht länger.
Wenden wir uns gegen die antijüdische Propaganda aller Stimmen und Parteien – wo immer sie laut erhoben wird, ob auf der Straße oder im vertrauten Kreis von Nachbarn, Bekannten, Freunden, in christlichen Gemeinden und säkularen Vereinen. Wenden wir uns gegen die Lanz’ens und Mioscas, die Illners und Hayalis unseres Nachrichtenwesens. Lassen wir nicht zu, das Israel an den medialen Pranger gestellt wird und ihre Feinde auch noch darüber lachen und spotten und das Volk der Verheißung verhöhnen.

By comparison, Mastodon Dot Cloud had no active staff and was filled with spam, scams, and bots.
However, ironically, while Mstdn was also using old software, it was still staffed. There were people there trying to keep it going, and you needed staff approval to join.
