Thema "Reichweite" und "Reichweitenoptimierung im Fediverse"
Ihr Lieben,
ich verfolge das Thema nun schon einige Zeit und habe bereits so einiges dazu geschrieben. Auch heute im Friendica-Plausch war "Reichweite im Fediverse" eines der Themen und es ist interessant, wie unterschiedlich dieses Thema aufgefasst wird. Wer das Thema eine Zeitlang verfolgt, hat vielleicht schon selbst gemerkt, wie unterschiedlich dieses Thema verstanden wird.
Das Fediverse ist ein Treffpunkt für Menschen, um sich miteinander auszutauschen und neue Kontakte zu knüpfen. Reichweite im Fediverse bekommt ihr z.B. indem ihr Kontakte knüpft, euch anderen anschließt, gemeinsame Interessen findet usw.
Reichweite im Fediverse bedeutet nicht, dass es hier um Gewinnmaximierung für euer kommerzielles Projekt oder Produkt geht! Das Fediverse ist keine Werbeplattform, auf der man "sein Ding" durchzieht und permanent Marketing für seine Produkte betreibt. Es spricht nicht dagegen, dass man mal etwas von sich vorstellt, was man macht, was man produziert usw. In einem gewissen Rahmen.
Habt ihr euch aber nur im Fediverse angemeldet, um eure Produkte zu vermarkten, seid ihr nur hier, um auf einer weitere Plattform eure Produkte bewerben und promoten zu können, ohne dass es einen sonstigen Mehrwert für alle anderen User hier im Fediverse hat, wird das für euch sehr schnell nach hinten losgehen.
Das Fediverse ist kein Werbenetzwerk, hier gibt eine keine "Reichweitenoptimierung", "Reichweitenmaximierung" oder "Gewinnoptimierung". Auch wenn genau das von einigen wenigen Fediverslern versprochen und beworben wird - das ist völliger Quatsch. Mit "Reichweite" ist hier lediglich gemeint, wie ihr euch im Fediverse besser verknüpfen könnt. Es geht hier nicht um Gewinnabsichten oder sonstiges.
Hier wird kein SEO fruchten (denn diese Begriffe kommt aus der SEO-Ecke!) und auch einen sogenannten Backlink-setzen wird nichts bringen. Nicht nur, dass durch sowas evtl. noch Crawler angezogen werden. Crawler, die niemand von uns hier haben möchte. Auf meiner Instanz - und auch auf etlichen anderen Instanzen - sind Google und Co. häufig komplett Serverseitig bewusst ausgeschlossen, so dass Google erst gar nicht zu den jeweiligen Instanzen durchdringen kann. Bedeutet also, ein "Backlink" hat überhaupt keinen Wert, beworbene Produkte werden über Suchmaschinen auch nicht auf den Instanzen gefunden!
Das alles hat übrigens auch nichts mit der Größe der Instanz, der Mitgliederanzahl oder der Server-Größe zu tun. Es geht um den Grundgedanken des Fediverse. Die meisten User und Admins möchten keine Werbung im Fediverse sehen! Ich als Admine möchte eine gewisse Qualität anbieten können, in einem Rahmen, den ich alleine entscheide und abhängig von dem mache, was für alle, die diese Instanz nutzen, zusammen das Beste wäre. Ich weiß, so handeln viele von uns Admins. Und ich weiß auch, dass viele von uns Admins deswegen auch keine Zahlungen/Spenden für die Server annehmen. Niemand möchte sich hier kaufen lassen, man möchte unabhängig als Instanzbetreiber bleiben. Und das finde ich richtig so. Denn das ist es, was es ausmacht. Das Fedivse ist unabhängig und das soll es auch weiterhin bleiben!!!
Gefällt die Arbeit, das Engagement, welches man hier hineinsteckt, ist es jedem überlassen, die häufig übliche "Tasse Kaffee" auszugeben. Dagegen haben sicherlich die Wenigsten etwas. Aber durch irgendwelche Zahlungen werden keine Werbeeinblendungen o.ä. geduldet, kein User bekommt deswegen eine Sondergenehmigung und darf dadurch seinen Account für kommerzielle Werbung nutzen. Dessen sollte man sich immer bewusst sein.
Viele von uns betreiben ihre Server auf eigene Kosten - ganz bewusst und gewollt. Wir möchten keinen Gewinn machen, keine Einnahmen damit erzielen, nicht davon leben - es ist unser Hobby. Viele von uns gehen einem geregelten Job nach und betreuen die Instanzen in der Freizeit. Das machen wir gerne und es macht uns Spaß, sonst würden wir es nicht machen. Also vergesst nicht, dass viele von uns unabhängige, freie Instanzbetreiber sind! Und wir wollen weiterhin frei und unabhängig bleiben.
Wir wollen auch nicht tausende von Usern auf den Servern haben. Wir wollen eine gute Verteilung der User auf die verschiedenen Instanzen, so dass wir uns auch untereinander weiterempfehlen. Diese Rivalität oder Konkurrenz, wer den besseren Server usw. hat, sehe ich hier im Fediverse nicht. Nur noch einmal zur Info: Dezentralität funktioniert nur, wenn möglichst viele kleine, unabhängig Server im Fediverse existieren! Es ist also bei den meisten von uns nicht so, dass wir keine hohen Userzahlen haben können - sondern wir wollen nicht! Aus eben genannten Gründen.
Und um nochmal ganz deutlich darauf aufmerksam zu machen: Die meisten von uns haben für ihre Instanzen Nutzungsbedingungen, sogar ganze Infoseiten, auf denen deutlich kommuniziert wird, was erlaubt und was verboten ist. Mit der Registrierung erklärt ihr euch einverstanden, diese Nutzungsbedingungen zu akzeptieren. Diese Nutzungsbedingungen sind nötig, damit ein gutes Miteinander und ein fairer Umgang möglich ist. Dazu gehört auch eine faire Nutzung der durch uns zur Verfügung gestellten Ressourcen.
Also prüft vor der Registrierung gründlich, ob auf eurer Instanz Werbung gewünscht oder gar erlaubt ist und in welchem Umfang, im Zweifel fragt vor der Registrierung den Instanzbetreiber oder die Instanzbetreiberin.
Haltet ihr euch nicht an diese Nutzungsbedingungen, missbraucht ihr Server, die euch kostenfrei zur Verfügung gestellt werden als Werbeplattformen, kann dies sehr schnell dazu führen, dass euer Account ohne vorherige Warnung gelöscht wird. Das alleine liegt in der freien Entscheidung des jeweiligen Admins oder der Admine und ist immer eine Einzelfall-Entscheidung.
BTW: Ich freue mich sehr auf die Fediverse-Sprechstunde von Doris am Montag und kann diese nur empfehlen. Thema passend dazu: "Reichweite gewinnen – und wie kann jeder das Fediverse schnell und sinnvoll für sich nutzen?"

VisibleOnScreenNotifier and Enabler nodes
I'd normally use a lifetime counter for my bullets, but now VisibleOnScreenNotifier destroys the bullets when they are suitably off screen (120px beyond in this case)
VisibleOnScreenEnabler will be used on almost *every* active enemy so that only on-screen enemies are active. Here it's being used on the spitter.

Even as Trump’s America and the Islamic terrorist state of Iran are negotiating, Israel’s Air Force jets successfully struck the uranium enrichment facility as well as the heavy water reactor in different locations of Iran, according to a news report by The Jerusalem Post. The operation only shows Iran getting weaker in the war.

Israel attacked Iran’s Khandab heavy water reactor in Arak, as well as a uranium enrichment facility in Ardakan, on Friday, the IDF confirmed.
Over 50 Israel Air Force (IAF) fighter jets, guided by IDF intelligence, completed strikes targeting the Iranian terror regime’s infrastructure across three areas simultaneously, the IDF said.
Earlier Iranian state media reports noted that the enrichment facility in Ardakan produced yellowcake, a concentrated uranium powder used in the early stages of nuclear fuel production.
Later on Friday, a missile struck the Bushehr nuclear plant in Iran, according to the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, with no casualties, material damage, or technical disruptions being reported.
Heavy water is a unique material used to operate nuclear reactors – A government official told the Islamic Republic’s semi-official Fars News Agency, which is linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), that no casualties occurred in the reported attack on the heavy water reactor, and that there is no danger to the local population. Fars reported that the facility was struck twice.
“Heavy water is a unique material used to operate nuclear reactors, such as the inactive Arak reactor, which was originally designed to have weapons-grade plutonium production capabilities,” the IDF said. “These materials can also be used as a neutron source for nuclear weapons.“
The military added that the facility, which was hit during the June 2025 war between Israel and Iran, was also a “significant economic asset” for the Iranian regime and generated tens of millions of dollars for the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization.
According to the military, Iran worked to rebuild the facility after it was struck nine months ago. It added that the Islamic Republic deliberately avoided a mandate to convert the reactor so that it would not be capable of producing weapons-grade plutonium.
In a statement issued later by the IDF, the military said Friday’s attacks across Iran also targeted a military industry facility used for the production of a variety of weapons, an Iranian Ministry of Defense site used for the development and production of advanced explosive devices, and a site used for the production of components for ballistic missiles and anti-aircraft missiles.
Attacks follow call for evacuation – The attack comes after the IDF called for residents of the northwestern Iranian city of Arak to evacuate ahead of imminent strikes on nearby regime military infrastructure.
The heavy water reactor is located a short distance northwest of the municipality of Arak. The call for evacuation was posted on the IDF’s Persian-language X/Twitter account, and included graphics illustrating the targeted areas and evacuation routes.
The post further called for those in the nearby Khairabad industrial zone to evacuate.
Soon thereafter, the IDF announced that it had begun simultaneous attacks on regime infrastructure in three areas of Iran. It did not specify further on the targets of the attacks.
Iranian media claims strikes on Ardakan yellowcake production facility – Shortly after the strikes on the heavy water research reactor, Iranian state media outlets reported attacks on the yellowcake production facility in Ardakan. The IDF later confirmed it struck the site.
Ardakan is a city in Iran’s Yazd province, which the IDF had struck previously. targeting a central site for producing missiles and sea mines.

Recently in the City of Parañaque, the local police apprehended two suspects behind the theft of a motorcycle, according to a Manila Bulletin news report.

Authorities arrested two suspects in a motorcycle theft after a 46-year-old man reported his Yamaha Fassio has been missing since March 23 in Parañaque City.
Parañaque City Police Chief Col. Nicolas Pinon identified the suspects as Abdul, 33, and Eric, 33, both residents of Taguig City. They were apprehended along Pajero Street in Barangay Sun Valley, Parañaque City.
According to Pinon, the victim said he parked his motorcycle in a designated parking area. However, when he returned, the vehicle was already missing. The victim immediately sought assistance and reported the incident to authorities at the Sun Valley Substation.
A hot pursuit operation was launched which led to the arrest of the suspects. Police said one of them was driving a white Honda PCX motorcycle while assisting his accomplice using the “tulak paa” maneuver.
Authorities recovered the stolen motorcycle. Police also found a hand grenade in Eric’s possession, while Abdul yielded six grams of shabu worth P40,800.

I'll take a guess on what the telegram exploit is. Mostly because people seem to be concerned and there is little information and the recommendation appears to be "Disable automatic media download" but I am worried about the mixture of severity and lack of information and at least thought to speculate based on information available and what I can see.

Now, please do keep in mind that I have spent like 15mins on this and have hardly done anything serious but hearing "Please do this thing to prevent an exploit but I don't have details" isn't exactly ideal. I'm also jumping to some conclusions as what is exploitable

1. Got notified regarding to this CVE via a friend.

The main advice appears to be disable automatic media download - My assumption is that some library related to processing media appears to have some issue.
2. pmap of my running telegram process - Saw libjxl and wondered what state it was in (Refer to media attached)

"ibjxl JPEG XL decoder crash due to uninitialized pointer access in malformed images" - One of the screenshots output "Illegal Instruction (Core Dump)" which is sinister, this can include the CPU attempting to execute an instruction it doesn't understand and if that segment can be manipulated and potentially arbitrary code execution.

Disclaimer: I can't say it is even about libjxl or related to the CVE mentioned in 1 but I can at least see an attack like so: (which gives weight to disabling media for telegram).
1. Attacker crafts a suitable image to manipulate the decoder, image contains data that can either manipulate the pointer and/or data that the segment it could point to (for reference, just enough data to get a shell or establish a connection to something else is enough)
2. Attacker sends the image on a platform where the user using this library can then decode it.
3. The image that is decoded will then be able to execute the payload - Attacker could gain control via this method.

While this may seem silly but please also do not hound or abuse the devs at libjxl. Last thing I want are people who are trying to do their best to fix the issues I have listed and do not control what telegram includes in their builds.
