Immediately cancelled the trial and cancelled the subscription in Apple subscriptions.
7 days later €44 comes out through PayPal (which I’d used to pay for the track).
Found another #PayPal payment schedule outside of Apple subscriptions.
Submitted a PayPal claim with all the evidence, which they rejected.

Wenn Du Videos auf YT hast, dann kannst Du dieses samt wichtigsten Metadaten (Beschreibungen usw.) sehr einfach automatisiert auf einen PeerTube Account rüberholen. #Peertube ist das Youtubependent hier im Fediverse. Du kannst dort #Videos posten und diese dann aus anderen Fediverseplattformen interagieren (beispielsweise kannst Du diese Videoposts mit Deiner Friendicaaccount bosten (teilen). Auch alle anderen hier (egal welche Plattform, sei es Mastodon, Misskey, Friendica, gotosocial…) können ebenfalls damit interagieren, also liken, teilen, Kommentieren…
In Friendica kannst Du natürlich auch Videos posten, aber es ist nicht darauf spezialisiert und es fehlen die entsprechenden Spezialfeatures.
Ich habe z.B: mal ein Kunstfilmprojekt mit 1minütigen Wasservideos gemacht. Auch dem kann man folgen: @flow

Nekogram, fork of the Open Source messaging app Telegram used by journalists and privacy activists, had just been discovered to include spyware. The malicious code sent all user's private phone numbers to the developer, a Chinese man nicknamed NekoWorkshop (alias tehcneko). The devteam publicly admitted the presence of the spyware code, then started reacting violently against the userbase.

Fakten allein retten keine Demokratie mehr – aber wir brauchen sie
Heute wollte ich eigentlich nicht bloggen. Eigentlich, denn dann kam der Artikel von Jan Skudlarek und Jenny Winkler zum Internationalen Faktencheck-Tag am heutigen 2. April. Die beiden arbeiten ein Thema auf, das mich seit Monaten umtreibt und das ich nicht abschütteln kann. Es geht darum, dass man viele Leute nicht mehr durch Fakten erreichen kann. Es geht im Grunde um nichts Geringeres als darum, wie unsere Demokratie funktioniert. Oder eben nicht mehr funktioniert.
Und das bewegt mich seit Corona, noch mehr nach den Wahlergebnissen bei uns in Deutschland, aber auch in den USA mit dem Meister alternativer Fakten im Weißen Haus. Passend dazu hat Mimikama zum heutigen Faktencheck-Tag einen nüchternen Befund formuliert: Eine Falschmeldung kann sich in wenigen Minuten verbreiten, tausendfach geteilt und emotional aufgeladen werden – ein sorgfältiger Faktencheck braucht dagegen Zeit. Faktenchecks arbeiten notwendig gründlich. Desinformation arbeitet schnell.
Ich habe Geschichte studiert und Journalismus gelernt. Das bedeutet konkret: Was ich nicht belegen kann, darf ich nicht schreiben. Quellen prüfen, Aussagen gegenchecken, Behauptungen hinterfragen – das ist kein akademisches Ritual, das ist Handwerk in beiden Professionen. Dazu gehört übrigens auch, verschiedene Meinungen einzuholen.
Und es ist eine Haltung, die ich verinnerlicht habe. Ich habe dabei gelernt: Die Welt ist nicht schwarz-weiß. Grautöne überwiegen. Kausalitäten sind komplex, Schuld ist selten eindeutig, die meisten Phänomene haben mehr als eine Ursache. Diese Differenzierung ist keine Schwäche – sie ist intellektuelle Redlichkeit. Wer behauptet, eine einfache Antwort auf eine komplizierte Frage zu haben, vereinfacht meist so weit, dass es einer Lüge gleichkommt.
Nicht alles, was sich Studie nennt, ist automatisch belastbar. Nicht alles, was in Publikationen behauptet wird, ist faktenbasiert. Das muss geprüft werden – Methodik, Quellen, Interessenlagen dahinter. Und natürlich lassen sich Fakten unterschiedlich interpretieren, gewichten, einordnen.
Darüber kann und soll man streiten, das ist der Kern demokratischer Debatte. Nur: Am Ende gibt es einen Bereich, der nicht verhandelbar ist. Fakten dürfen nicht verdreht, gefälscht oder schlicht erfunden werden. Das muss das gemeinsame Grundverständnis sein, auf dem jede Diskussion aufbaut. Wer dieses Fundament aufgibt, verlässt nicht eine politische Position – er verlässt die gemeinsame Wirklichkeit und unsere Demokratie.
Der Journalist in mir trifft auf eine Welt, die Fakten nicht mehr hören will
Und genau hier liegt das Dilemma, das mich nicht loslässt: Diese Art zu denken – faktenbasiert, differenziert, quellenkritisch – trifft auf ein Gegenüber, das genau das nicht will. Das die Grautöne als Schwäche liest. Das Differenzierung mit Unentschlossenheit verwechselt. Das klare Feindbilder braucht, weil sie einfacher sind als Zusammenhänge, weil sie Identität stiften, weil sie emotional tragen, was inhaltlich nicht trägt. Skudlarek und Winkler beschreiben das präzise: Verschwörungstheorien liefern nicht Beweise, sondern Struktur. Ordnung in einer chaotischen Welt. Und wenn jemand diese emotionale Ordnung gefunden hat und sie nicht mehr loslassen will – was nützt dann noch ein Faktencheck? Ich habe das am Beispiel der sozialen Medien bereits beschrieben: Faktenlos und respektlos – Parallelwelten, in denen Fakten nur noch Meinungen sind.
Jemand muss schuld sein – und das macht es so einfach
Verschwörungstheorien und Populismus funktionieren nicht im luftleeren Raum. Sie brauchen einen Gegner. Die da oben. Die Migranten. Die Medien. Die Eliten. Das Feindbild ist keine Nebenwirkung – es ist das Kernprodukt. Denn wer einen Schuldigen hat, braucht keine Analyse mehr. Wer weiß, wer der Feind ist, muss keine Grautöne aushalten.
Die Welt wird übersichtlich, das eigene Lager moralisch makellos, und jeder unbequeme Fakt lässt sich als Lüge des Feindes wegräumen. Das ist psychologisch brillant – und demokratisch gefährlich. Wie die AfD genau diese Mechanismen systematisch einsetzt, habe ich an anderer Stelle beschrieben.
Was mich dabei zusätzlich beschäftigt: Die etablierten Parteien geben gerade kein gutes Bild ab. Mauscheleien, Lobbyhörigkeit, Streit, Versprechen, die nicht eingehalten werden, eine Sprache, die nach Verwaltung klingt und nicht nach Leben. Wer das Vertrauen der Menschen verloren hat, darf sich nicht wundern, wenn sie woanders hingehen – auch wenn dieses Woanders noch gefährlicher ist.
Populistische Bewegungen füllen nicht nur ein emotionales Vakuum, sie füllen ein Vakuum, das die demokratische Mitte selbst hinterlassen hat. Solange etablierte Parteien ihre Wählerinnen und Wähler emotional nicht mehr erreichen, werden Feindbilder diesen Platz einnehmen. Das ist keine Entschuldigung für diejenigen, die zu Parteien mit menschenfeindlichen Programmen laufen. Aber es ist eine Erklärung, die man nicht wegdiskutieren kann.
Und trotzdem kann ich einfach emotional und intellektuell nicht verstehen, wie man eine Partei wie die AfD oder einen Donald Trump wählen kann, die nachweislich lügen, Fakten verbiegen und im Zweifel einfach eigene erfinden. Die Parallelen zwischen beiden sind dabei alles andere als zufällig. Das ist für mich keine politische Meinung mehr, das ist die Aufkündigung einer gemeinsamen Wirklichkeit. Und auf dieser Grundlage wird Demokratie sehr schwer.
Fake News, gefälschte Bilder, Deepfakes – die Eskalation der Lüge
Zu all dem kommt eine technische Eskalation, die das Problem noch einmal verschärft. Fake News sind kein neues Phänomen – aber gefälschte Bilder und Deepfake-Videos sind es in ihrer heutigen Qualität. Deepfakes – KI-generierte, täuschend echte Bild- und Videoaufnahmen – sind gerade in aller Munde, und das zu Recht – nicht nur in der Politik: Sie machen es erschreckend einfach, Dinge zu behaupten, die nie stattgefunden haben. Die Diskussion um sexualisierte Deepfakes, wie sie zuletzt rund um den Fall Collien Fernandes öffentlich geführt wurde, zeigt, wie real der Schaden ist: Bilder, die nie existiert haben, zerstören Ruf, Würde und das Sicherheitsgefühl von Menschen – meist von Frauen.
Einen Politiker in einer kompromittierenden Situation, in der er nie war. Eine Menschenmenge, die es nie gab. Ein Video, das eine Aussage zeigt, die nie gesprochen wurde. Besonders Bilder wirken auf uns anders als Text – wir glauben, was wir sehen, das sitzt tiefer als ein gelesener Satz. „Ich hab’s doch selbst gesehen.“ Genau das ist die Falle.
Wer Fakten nicht nur verdrehen, sondern visuell belegen kann – auch wenn das Bild gefälscht ist –, hat ein mächtiges Werkzeug in der Hand. Und der Faktencheck kommt auch hier zu spät: Das Bild ist längst tausendfach geteilt, emotional verankert, Teil des Weltbilds geworden. Die Korrektur erreicht einen Bruchteil davon.
Was tut man politisch, wenn Millionen so wählen?
Mich beschäftigt das als grundlegendes, die Demokratie gefährdendes Problem. Parteien, die mit Fakten nichts am Hut haben. Die eine Welt beschwören, die es so nicht mehr gibt. Deren Programm den meisten ihrer Wählerinnen und Wähler objektiv schaden würde – wirtschaftlich, sozial, europapolitisch. Die nachweislich Vetternwirtschaft betreiben und sich die Taschen füllen. Und trotzdem: Zustimmung, Stimmen, Wahlergebnisse. Wie gewinnt man Menschen zurück, die dort bewusst ihr Kreuz machen – nicht aus Unwissenheit, sondern weil ihnen die emotionale Gewissheit und der Frust auf die da oben wichtiger ist als die faktische Genauigkeit?
Ich habe keine Antwort, genauso wenig wie Skudlarek und Winkler.
Fakten sind notwendig – aber sie reichen nicht
Wir haben jahrzehntelang geglaubt, demokratische Öffentlichkeit funktioniere über Information und Aufklärung. Je mehr Fakten, desto besser die Entscheidungen. Das gilt – aber nur für Menschen, die noch beweglich sind, die Grautöne zumindest ertragen und bereit sind respektvoll zu diskutieren. Für viele andere greift dieses Modell nicht mehr. Populistische Bewegungen spielen ein anderes Spiel: Sie handeln in den Währungen Feindbilder, eigene Identität, Zugehörigkeit und emotionaler Ansprache. Fakten dagegenzusetzen ist oft so, als würde man in einer Sprache antworten, die das Gegenüber bewusst nicht mehr versteht.
Das heißt nicht, dass Fakten wertlos wären – das wäre für mich als Journalist eine unerträgliche Schlussfolgerung. Es heißt, dass sie allein nicht reichen. Demokratische Politik, die gewinnen will, muss emotional tragen, nicht nur intellektuell überzeugen. Es wäre unehrlich, es nicht zu sagen. Die Frage, wie das geht, ohne selbst in Vereinfachung und Demagogie abzugleiten. Viel Zeit bleibt nicht mehr, wenn wir unsere Demokratie verteidigen und bewahren wollen.

Why are you learning Python if you haven't needed it before?
Many of the tools I use have Python embedded right in there and I need to do things that the tools don't do natively.
I can read Python and understand it, but not really write it from scratch without stumbling through and reading lots of docs, StackOverflow, and GeeksForGeeks.
I need to manipulate some data using Alteryx that comes from an API call. For reasons that are dumb, but insurmountable, Alteryx cannot call this API directly.
Alteryx has Python embedded and even includes an embedded Jupyter IDE. I have Python code that makes the API calls and pulls down the data.
The only way to get the data out of the Python blob is using a pandas datastream. Any field that was a list or dictionary in the original data, is just a string when it comes out in the same pickle format you'd get if you did a print from Python.
Alteryx doesn't understand pickle format. It barely understand JSON. But I need to convert pickle to JSON and I cannot find a reliable way to do that just using character substitution and regular expressions.
I can't get the data out of Python in JSON format unless you know how to force pandas to represent the data as JSON instead of native Python dict and list. Alteryx properly converts the other datatypes to Alteryx-native datatypes, just not those.
There are tools in Alteryx to unnest objects and flatten arrays but they have to be valid JSON.
When I try just replacing ' with ", None with null, True with true, and False with false, I get errors which I assume are from replacing an embedded or escaped '.
Alteryx error messages are terrible. The input is 18,000 lines, each one a dict to be parsed. I convert them to what I think is valid JSON and send them to the JSON parser which returns this error Missing comma or '}' after an object member. at character position: 170. Not which line it happened on. Not any context where I can search or find it. Just that.
Would anyone have a reliable way to convert the strings of pickle to valid JSON?

Something I've been most surprised by while trying NetBSD is how much thought has been put into creating a high-quality TTY experience.
On Linux, trying to create a functional TTY work environment feels like a a hack. Things often don't work right or require lots of tinkering.
Here, everything just works. Straight out of the installer, I have 256 colour support, audio functionality, and the brightness/volume control keys just... work. No configuration. It's fantastic
