The constellation of American bases in the Persian Gulf region has been essential to the U.S. military’s execution of the air war over Iran. But commanders have relocated many of their troops because the sprawling compounds did not have adequate defenses to protect from Iranian ballistic missiles and drones, U.S. defense officials said.
The move illustrates the U.S. military’s lack of preparedness for a war that the Trump administration started on its own terms, military experts said.
“This is the first war the United States is facing where we see the implications of democratized air power and the long-range persistent strikes from their adversary,” said Kelly Grieco, a senior fellow at the Stimson Center. “And the lack of preparedness is not limited to this theater.”

Okay, so the problem with my delta is apparently the OrangePi Zero 3 somehow getting overloaded doing delta kinematics math that the 100mhz printer board could do fine if I put Marlin on it.
It is strangely only happening with specific directions of "diagonal" movement. I know as a delta, all directions (except straight line Z axis moves) should be pretty much the same in terms of kinematics/processor load, which is part of why this was confounding me for like a full week.
Specifically, it'll print a cube aligned with the Cartesian coordinate axes perfectly, but if I rotate it more than about 15 degrees it either loses its ability to hold the effector's Z position, or it starts drawing curvy lines while maintining Z.
It has similar problems if i try to print a cylinder, but much less pronounced.
With the current prices of Rasberry Pis, I'm really hoping I can get my hands on a used 4B since my single surviving full size RPi (i have a drawer full of zeros, but just the one RPi 5) which is currently doing triple duty as a print server, file server, and home automation host.

If you’re interested I may be able to work on the EventSubscriber parts of Create a plugin to create entities on incoming activities. My Event allows an EventSubscriber to set/get a JsonResponse along with getters for the incoming Request and my typed data representation of Activity. And each event is keyed based on the type property.
I am not sure you would need to add a plugin manager for that at all if there was a base api-like module and a “default” implementation module.

That doesn’t mean other countries can’t develop their own robust AI ecosystems with fine-tuned technology built on top of those models. It does mean, however, that countries that do so will be increasingly dependent on a small number of American and Chinese firms. That leaves them vulnerable to shifting geopolitical winds and the risk that these companies might one day swallow their global competitors whole.
Even as global leaders and entrepreneurs outside the West scramble for some measure of self-determination by rushing to build their own “sovereign AI” ecosystems from scratch, their fate may be sealed.

A Milwaukee, Wisconsin, grandfather who has been hailed a "pillar" of the city's Muslim community was revealed to have been arrested by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on Monday, despite possessing legal permanent residency in the US, his advocates said.
Salah Sarsour, who is president of the Islamic Society of Milwaukee, has been lawfully present in the US for more than three decades, the mosque said in a statement posted alongside a fundraiser for his legal defence.
"He is a father, a grandfather, a dear husband, and a kind and principled role model for countless people in Milwaukee and beyond."
The Muslim Legal Fund of America has taken up Sarsour's case, and said on Wednesday that "the government appears to be using the immigration system to target individuals for protected speech related to Palestine and Palestinians".
Sarsour's vehicle was surrounded by 10 federal agents before his arrest, the Council on American Islamic Relations said, "with no cause".

“WhatsApp accused Italian spyware maker SIO of creating a fake version of its messaging app for iPhones, according to an announcement the company shared with TechCrunch.
“Our security team proactively identified around 200 users primarily in Italy who we believe may have downloaded this malicious unofficial client,” WhatsApp said in its statement. “We have logged them out, alerted [them] to the risks to their privacy and security that come with downloading fake unofficial clients, and encouraged them to remove it and download the official WhatsApp app.”
WhatsApp spokesperson Margarita Franklin told TechCrunch that, at this point, the company cannot share more information about the users it notified, such as whether they were journalists or members of civil society.
“Our priority has been protecting the users who may have been tricked into downloading this fake iOS app,” said Franklin.”

I hate this timeline.
As a long time #climate campaigner... I almost feel like I should be hoping that the Iran/US war continues as long as possible so the price of oil and gasoline can go as high as possible and force economies to electrify and shift at emergency-speed to renewables.
We could have started on this the easy way 30 years ago... but a few of the same people objected and obstructed.
