Hello I still need help for my #yunohost but using the forum is too hard and not really easy. Maybe I must to call help how to use the forum to use it.
Any other alternative to get #help with #yunohost
Bonjour,
Je cherche de l'aide sur #yunohost mais je trouve le forum pas facile ni pratique
Quelles alternative pour touver de l'aide ?
i like gotosocial for lines like this during the upgrade script ;)
"Please plan your upgrade accordingly, by running it just before going to sleep, for example. "
upgrade is running, will go to sleep now
It seems #Yunohost comes with a #Halloween themed Easter egg (feels weird writing that) -- a loading GIF called 'spooky-cat.gif' that runs back & forth >.<

Content warning:CW for sysadmins: chaotic energy / puzzling actions by a self-hosting newbie
Mentally tired after the week I've had.
I must have installed/uninstalled #Sharkey at least 9 times... and even when I got it to work it proved to be a total lemon.
Ditto for #Wallabag (paid plan on their server) and my self-hosted #Linkwarden.
🦇 This is my self-hosting cursed week 👻
I finally got Sharkey to work because I switched to a managed instance (https://calckey.world). And then I got my collection of links to work on #Linkwarden when I switched to their managed instance (there's a clear pattern here, LOL).
Then yesterday I tried CasaOS. A little too simple for my taste and with NO security in place / no instruction to add Let's Encrypt certs (as far as I could tell). When I read it's a Chinese project I kind of bolted (no offense to them, but I like to keep my stuff in Europe).
Then today I tried Cloudron and could not set it up.
Then I spun up another Ubuntu server to manually install Ghost v6 and couldn't figure out how to configure the caddy file.
Since Wednesday I must have started and stopped at least 7 servers on #Hetzner. My usage is still ridiculously low (1.19 Euros for the past 30 days) but I'm afraid I'll get flagged for suspicious behavior, LOL. I promise I'm not shady, I'm just an awkward newbie.
In all this, I am now EXTREMELY GRATEFUL for how easy and clear it is to set up a #YunoHost system.
The security they offer right off the bat is awesome... as well as the clear instructions about how to edit DNS records, install Let's Encrypt certificates and the whole nine yards.
YUNOHOST has no equivalent when it comes to empowering newbies and I'm just so so grateful to them... and I look forward to writing a step-by-step installation guide for newbies.
Apologies to sysadmins if this post had triggered you. I completely understand its chaotic energy... to be fair it's the first time in 10 months that I attempt to do so many things.
Anyway, off to get dressed for Halloween now.
Wishing you all a lovely evening and weekend 🎃
No offense but #Yunohost package maintainers write extensive documentation challenge
Let's say you want to install #yunohost on an old dell win10 pc that "cant" upgrade to win11...
I understand it offers a dynamic dns solution and an xxx.nohost.me domain name if you don't want to buy or mess with domain name configuration.
Does that include something similar to cloudflare tunnel to help protect you? Or can you setup cloudflare tunnel with that domain name? Does this make any sense?
Is this the kind of dumb question that indicates I have no business trying to self host?🤣
From the download counter on the release page at codeberg I estimated that there are between 30 and 40 #flohmarkt instances out there running on #yunohost.
(Who uses ZIP 😉 ? Well, the yunohost integration does and the counter went up by the numbers shortly after publishing the latest update to the yunohost app integration.)
On the wiki we have a list of ~20 flohmarkts. The list is meant for users to choose an instance and for admins to look for other flohmarkts to federate with.
I'd like to invite everybody to drop us a line to add your flohmarkt to the wiki: either as a codeberg issue or as a fedimessage or fedipost or on #flohmarkt IRC.
And even if you'd not like to be on the wiki page: federate with others to make your small ads more visible.
#Federation enables that #SmallAds show up on the other instances an instance is federated with directly. This gives every small ad some more reach.
My impression is that federation is extremly important to make the flohmarkts more successful as an alternative to the well know centralized services.
I opened an issue to discuss how to make federating easier without forcing anyone to share more data with the world than they do with the actual version of flohmarkt.
i think i've taken a personal offense to the corporate capture of the tools i use. Today is partly dedicated to continuing to take back my digital stuff (again).
