This appears to be very interesting...

Apparently, a basic 64-bit #ARM #Linux assembly program that accepts user input, allocating a stack buffer to store it temporarily, and then echoing it to the user is apparently only 616 bytes compared to a 64-bit #x86 equivalent, which is 8600 bytes. That's quite a massive size difference! However, there's a caveat: this is after both programs are stripped with 'strip --strip-all'. Nevertheless, it's still quite a huge size difference!

For my ARM testing machine, I'm using my file server as that's a #RaspberryPi 3 B+ running #AlpineLinux, while I'm using my desktop running #ArchLinux. The former distro has binutils 2.44, while the latter distro has binutils 2.45.1. I'm not sure if anything there is a factor to anything else, but it's there for anyone to ponder! 😄
