There was a power blip this morning and the #RaspberryPi rebooted and just sits there, not connecting to the wifi. I connected a HDMI screen and there's no interesting debug info (lots of OK but then sits there until reboot). It doesn't like my USB keyboard (only ctrl-alt-del seems to work). SDcard looks OK when plugged into laptop. Backing up data now (in addition to regular backup). Any suggestions what to try next? Ethernet cable maybe. But I wonder if it's stuck in "rootwait". How to tell?

Content warning:Long post on getting samba 4.22.4 on a Pi 1B to act as an SMB1 bridge between my NAS and ancient Sonos speakers.
Not really #RetroComputing, but oldish tech I guess. I spent yesterday upgrading a #RaspberryPi 1B from Raspberry Pi OS Buster to Trixie that I've been using as an SMB1 bridge to my NAS, where my #sonos music library lives. It's needed as my ancient Play1 and Play5 (gen1) speakers aren't capable of using a newer protocol and I'm not opening my NAS up to SMB1!
Mounting the music library on the upgraded Pi was straightforward and uses the latest SMB protocol - a quick addition to /etc/fstab. Getting samba (v4.22.4) to talk SMB1 to the Sonos speakers was slightly more difficult.
Eventually, the Play1s started working with the library after adding the following lines to the [global] section in /etc/samba/smb.conf:
server min protocol=NT1
ntlm auth=yes
with the music library set up as:
[musiclib]
public=yes
writeable=no
browsable=yes
path=/mnt/sonos
at the end of smb.conf
However, although the Play5 could see the music library, attempting to play a track from it resulted in an 'access denied' error. Much head scratching with lots of trial and error resulted in finding that adding:
unix extensions=no
to the [global] section did the trick.
Definitely worth the effort and has saved the speakers and Pi 1B from my cardboard box of doomed projects for the next few years!
