There'd be more vocal hate if Fox News started and promoted their own #peertube #owncast server than appreciation, even though most of fedi would recognize the huge value in it. They'd be scared to speak up.
We need to think deeper about media decentralization and the civics involved, rather than get hung up on the politics of fedi content. Stuff people can get on the web already anyway. Moving everybody off systems where others control attention is the bigger fight.
