After an exhaustive sleepless night of pain, the old man drags his breathless lifeless stiffened corpse out of a sunken bed of jagged shards of thorny rocky glass, unable to yet see as the classical music plays he drags his flaccid body off to prepare his coffee, with trembling hands he pours in the water and counts the scoops of grind, fumbling he manages to plug in the percolator and as the coffee begins to perc, he shuffles off to the toilet where his bowels in a defiant hungerous rage bellow out, gazing into the abyss the mirror reflects his greasy disheveled hair and beard, he disrobes and enters the shower, the boiling water offers no relief to a body destroyed by life and time, the piping hot water pours over his head as he brushes his teeth, he struggles to wash out his hair and beard, then finds it difficult to grasp the soap as he scrubs his body, as the water rinses him off he finds himself exhausted, he begins to dry off and exits the shower to begin the arduous task of brushing out his hair and beard, then stumbling back to his bed he struggles to pull on a clean undergarment, his socks pants and boots, he pours a cup of coffee and gently packs his pipe with scraps of tobacco, slipping out the door, the morning is mild dark and gray with very moist air, the storms are near like the rest of the world who cares not for the plight of a hellish life this old man is forced to continue to endure;
