In letzter Zeit hört man immer häufiger -völlig zu Recht- die EU müsse digital souverän werden. Mir stellt sich allerdings die Frage, ob nicht parallel dazu oder sogar primär an der finanziellen Souveränität gearbeitet werden muss. Aktuell hängt ein sehr großer Teil (alles?) des bargeldlosen Zahlungsverkehrs der EU an US-amerikanische Dienstleistern (Visa, MasterCard, PayPal, Google Pay, Apple Pay etc.). Die EU hat eigene Alternativen abgeschafft. Dieser Hebel ist IMHO genau so groß, wenn nicht sogar größer, als die digitale Abhängigkeit von den USA.
