It was Christmas morning, the old man after another sleepless night, drags his pain riddled body out of a sunken bed of thorns, he stumbles to prepare his coffee as the classical music was playing, there is no tree to see no presents to unwrap, no festive meal to prepare, his hands trembling as he poured the water and measured the scoops of grind, with his eyes still half closed and blurry he shuffled off to the toilet where his bowels unearthed a ghastly bellow of hunger, in the mirror his face he could not see his hair and beard disheveled and greasy, to tired to care he stumbled back to his bed, struggling he pulled on his socks and pants, the percolator was done, with shaky hands he pours a cup, carefully he packs his pipe with scraps of tobacco, to his door he opens to find the world is dark, gray moist and balmy, another wretched day, the furthest thing from Christmas cheer, for the world cares not for this old mans plight of a turbulent disabled impoverished life;
