@bammerlaan @Vivaldi @pixelfed Yes, that's rather unfortunate. I would also have mentioned #Matrix rather than #Signal as a #messenger, since Matrix is #federated. Signal is centralized and based in the US, so it's not a European alternative.

been getting back into #IRC which is nice. Some old haunts, some new.
The downside to IRC (not that #Matrix etc. are much different) is that when there's a lul in discussion, u can't really tell if everyone is out #touchinggrass or they put down their phone/pushed back their keyboard going "wtf did I just read?"

Matrix e2ee - It is honestly ridiculous that this is still a thing, but when encryption goes sideways, reactions are your best friend. Even when the message layer is completely broken, reactions usually still work. Encryption loves to fail in one direction, leaving you shouting into a void. If you suspect the keys are messed up, just ask: “Can you see this?”. Even if the other person can’t reply, they can usually still hit you with a reaction to let you know they’re there. The Mad Trix. @Taglar Ich habe jeden Kontakt persönlich angeschrieben, dass ich in wenigen Wochen nur noch über #matrix , E-Mail oder telefonisch erreichbar bin. Außerdem ein Konto auf meinem Matrix Server inklusive Unterstützung angeboten. Ich habe damit erstaunlicherweise fast mein komplettes Umfeld zum Umstieg gebracht. Das ist jetzt bestimmt schon gut 5 Jahre her.
