Je doute que ça intéresse du monde ici mais dans le doute je repost ma dernière annonce sur #Discord:
pour ceux qui ont raté mes articles récents, petit mémo :
- les jours de ce serveur Discord sont actuellement comptés, pas seulement à cause des bails récents, mais aussi pour des raisons éthiques, que je cite sur mon blog (notamment dans l'article sur Mumble et TeamSpeak)
- côté écrit, j'ai recréé la Karak sur #Matrix , qui est à mon sens la meilleure alternative possible à Discord sur ce plan (pour les clients desktop, j'ai fait un article sur le sujet) : https://matrix.to/?ref=buddakhiin.ghost.io#/#karak_budda:matrix.org
- côté vocal, j'ai posé la question de ce que vous préférez entre #Mumble et #TeamSpeak sur la Taverne, visiblement la tendance va aller plus sur Mumble (ce qui me convient à titre perso), je regarde tout ça cette semaine côté hébergement
- ce serveur sera donc supprimé vers le 21 mars

For everyone on the bark homeserver making use of matrix, I just deployed a new client with a bunch of extra features you can check out! This included VC / Videocalling too 
Thank you to @/tb on matrix for getting this project known to me. Of course once cinny updates to include all the new live calling features that will get installed too.

@kuketzblog Sehe keinen Sinn darin Signal zu haben, denn nur 1/20 meiner Kontakte hat es.
Der Unterschied zu WhatsApp ist gering, beides sind letztendlich zentralisierte, amerikanische Messenger. Hab mir vor einem Jahrzehnt mit zentralisierten Messengern schon mal die Finger verbrannt, nachdem ich für Telegram geworben hatte und das dann immer fragwürdiger wurde.
Wenn ich schon jemanden missioniere, dann gleich für dezentrale Messenger, also #Matrix. Dort sind bereits Familie und gute Freunde.

Are you were one of the people who self-hosted a Matrix server before 2024, and got frustrated with the amount of storage and bandwidth it used? I just learned about a possible cause of some of that, which was fixed by a 2024 spec change;
"Matrix 1.11 fixes this by requiring authentication on [media file] URLs, removing the ability for users to treat homeservers as CDNs for hosting arbitrary Matrix content for arbitrary users."

geez deleting your old #matrix server only to move from #conduit to #continuwuity and from a stupid subdomain to your main domain sure is fun
at least i think ill use it more actively now
and calls do *somewhat* work now
i hate that they only work with element (and on mobile only with element classic grrrr)

So apparently the Federation is not a great fan of multiple layers of proxy on top of tunneling... Resulting in my homelab Synapse instance constantly getting defederated, connection silently failing, and generally not a great experience.
So had to go back to VPS. At least I saved some money by switching to IPv6 fully and utilizing NAT64 to federate.
Maybe I'll give homelab Synapse another go in the future.
