We are SO back
This moving experience was.. Interesting
I will describe it as a "Controlled catastrophe"
Services went down, but only some
Most data was still available while the rack was being transited, Synapse decided to behave for most of the time (even the bridges were operating) and now that everything is back up and running, it's all behaving as expected
But I learned :
- Disaster recovery is not on point
- Losing a node may not be handled well by the cluster
- The cluster ain't so HA as of now
- Data is safe tho'
Let's see for the next moving if I can iron out all those quirks !

With renewed talk about #ChatControl where do you all intend to move to for your most active, personal, maybe even intimate chats? Hypothesis: #Signal gone and sideloading of messenger .apk's blocked on OS level.
Are there selfhosted messengers that could work simply in the browser? Maybe also as PWA? (E.g. family members just load a site hosted on my #homeserver and save it as web app)
Anyone regularly using #Matrix with #Cinny? Alternative recommendations?
question: is #matrix a good #discord alternative?
Tried to join the Matrix HQ room from the mobile Matrix server but all I get is a nonstandard Cloudflare 524 :(

I don't know exactly but they say: "This project is the official successor to conduwuit, which was a featureful and high-performance fork of Conduit, all community-lead homeservers implementing the compatible Matrix Specification." (src: https://matrix-construct.github.io/tuwunel/introduction.html)

I'm interested: why nobody mentions Tuwunel? Here https://matrix.org/ecosystem/servers/ Tuwunel on the 1st place, but here: https://servers.joinmatrix.org/ Tuwunel used by only one matrix's server: we2.ee. My question is: why Tuwunel so unpopular?

Should we migrate our #matrix homeserver on https://polycule.im to #FreeBSD ?
Hey so I downloaded #Element (#Matrix). Will see what that's about...
🔐 Project Hydra: Improving state resolution in Matrix
「 Given the security-sensitive nature of this work, it was done under embargo by the backend team at Element, the Matrix.org Security Team, the Spec Core Team, alongside Timo Kösters (who privately reported a related vulnerability, helping jumpstart the project) and Florian Jacob (at Karlsruher Institut für Technologie) 」

The #neuromancer by William Gibson mentions #ghosts in the #matrix. I just realized that within the #shadowrun books, such #ghosts are mentioned as well.
Do we already have something like that in our #cyberspace, or is this concept of #ghosts within the #cyberspace something predicted in #sf what is yet to come?
@GrapheneOS @woody @contrapunctus #matrix is bad, you don't need to tell me. Fire up an #xmpp client and jump on operators@muc.xmpp.org to talk to some people who have done what you need to do. I really do think that xmpp has the best open-source cross-platform story right now. As I said, I run non-federated #prosody, and I like it.
In humans we have agreed that incest might not be the most intelligent thing to do. With AI we don't care and the results are already beginning to show up. The machine needs us as blood to survive. If you are in doubt about that I warmly recommend to (re)watch Matrix which is imho the most likely explanation for life, the universe and all the rest. #ai #matrix
