A new vulnerability (CVE-2025-49090) is breaking compability in federation between #Matrix servers. Nice that it is getting fixed, but it will be some work to ensure a smooth upgrade.

@avoca @Ketakater I also got all of my family and a lot of my wider circle on it using these two strategies:
1. Getting a device that simply does not have #Whatsapp / proprietary messaging apps, i.e.: #Linuxmobile: #Flx1, #LibertyPhone, #Librem5, #Jolla2c, etc. People typically won't care enough about #privacy but they will understand if WA simply does not work on your phone.
2. Kids: They don't have phone numbers (or phones in many cases) but want to be included in family group chats. Once kids got in on it, #DeltaChat spread like wildfire among our extended family, relatives, inlaws and friends. Even a kid with #downsyndrome onboarded their grandpa in seconds while I had earlier struggled to get him on #Signal!
A great thing about Delta Chat is that, unlike #ElementMessenger and other fully-featured #Matrix clients, there's no search and discovery feature so kids do not stumble upon untrusted groups and strangers' profiles.

🚨 Wichtige Info: matrix.org hat unsere Matrix-Instanz rollenspiel.chat blockiert.
Das bedeutet, dass aktuell keine Kontakte zwischen den beiden Instanzen möglich sind.
Leider wissen wir nicht warum aber wir arbeiten bereits daran Kontakt mit matrix.org aufzunehmen, um das Problem schnellstmöglich zu lösen. Danke für eure Geduld!

@HarHarLinks Oh sorry, the repository where the code was died a while ago. Here’s the latest code for you. It’s WTFPL so feel free to uh, deal with it. It’s not a bot. I had a #bot earlier, but it caused questions about #privacy. Current version is designed to be used without separate user account for it. Nor it needs ANY #encryption keys. So it can #redact encrypted chats without having the encryption keys for the chat and working purely based on the #metadata. Which is kind of great. #matrix #secure #messaging
