Wenn ich mir die Kontaktmöglichkeiten von Datensicherheits-Forschenden anschaue, wie zB @bkastl @evawolfangel @kuketzblog (Folge-Empfehlung für alle drei), dann bieten diese sichere Kommunikations-Kanäle an, wie:
verschlüsstelte Mail, Matrix, Threema, Signal.
Und ich frage mich, warum eine solche (oder ähnliche) Kombi nicht Standard ist, für alle, die sensible Personendaten verarbeiten, wie zB
Ärzt:innen, Rechtsanwält:innen, Steuerberater:innen, uns weitere ...?
(Bitte antwortet nicht mit sowas wie: "Aber das Fax ...!" - Danke!)

Ich wollte mich eigentlich mit den tchncs-Account bei dem Client von #SchildiNext anmelden (vermutlich habe ich diese Client App gewählt, weil ich das Launcher Icon süß fand). Dort wurde ich aufgefordert, einen Account anzulegen, weil der angelegte nicht genommen wurde.
Habe vermutlich nicht gerafft, wie man Accounts bei anderen Clients anmeldet ...

@ahoyboyhoy @daniel I tried. The experience was sub-par and nobody else followed. Meanwhile, Signal, which has top-notch security, has also been able to get a decent following in my bubble, notably due to a good cross-platform experience and people having faith in its management. Mind you, if Signal ever turns bad we can switch from one second to the other. And, at the current state of affairs, the most likely replacement is #matrix.
The is unfortuately no use case for XMPP at this point in time in real life. I am no fan of matrix nor Element either. But these are the facts.

I have installed Mages Matrix Client on my Android phone. On the phone there is already Element installed. Without entering a recovery key and passing a verification request, the Mages client/session is listed as 'verified'. Can someone please explain to me why is that? https://f-droid.org/packages/org.mlm.mages

I use a #Librem5 as my daily phone:
- Full device disk encryption with #LUKS
- #PureMaps for navigation. GNOME Maps for looking, searching on a map. Both #OpenStreetMap based.
- WiFi just works
- In the past I used Mullvad VPN, but recently not tested any more.
- Synchronization via ssh/scp. I could very probably also use Nextcloud client, but did not test that.
- Signal Desktop
- #Fractal for #Matrix
- I use vim (mostly over ssh)

Todays reason to hate #matrix and #element?
I have not used element on my desktop since a while and opened it again today. Element showed me that it had an update. I allowed element to do the update. Now I can not use element anymore because it installed a version that is incompatible with my operating system.
Writing properly functional update mechanisms seems nearly impossible.

What ... created a private #Matrix room, for coordinating an event at #FOSDEM:
When I want to use the "share this room" link in order to invite a few people.
Matrix presents me a long list of apps and supposedly assumes that I know which client everyone else is using 🤷
The links per client are different, not all the same 🤷
This is just braindead UX, I can't know everyone else's client, and they possibly are using different clients anyway.
