I can confirm that I have, in fact, correctly set up my matrix server. I shall now proceed to delve into the world of Matrix bots and bridges!
I think I might have successfully set up a whitespashe matrix server!
If there's anyone on matrix that's willing to help me test, please do reach out!

Of course I know about alternative like xmpp, signal or whatever, but this kind of news is really good. How naive we were, better now than later. Now, EU, fund FOSS!

To any #matrix fanboy out there here is my challenge:
I have a matrix account on tchncs.de, an IRC account on libera.chat and want to join an IRC channel on libera.chat – if this is possible – how?!? (without compiling my own brainfuck re-implementation of the linux kernel)
Because if it is, I'd *LOVE* to know.
We're helping people in Iran get set up with #Matrix.
So far we've supported several servers (directly and indirectly) so the community has infrastructure nobody can just switch off.
Right now we're preparing for the next internet shutdown. Offline plans and local comms aren't nice-to-haves they're literally survival tools.
We prepare before the blackout, not after.
With hope for #freedom in Iran.

#matrix is supposed to be good with bridging I once heard. So far my experience with the flagship client is atrocious.
Getting Matrix to join IRC seems to be close to impossible. Any "normal" person trying this would have quit 4 times already.
At what point can we agree that bridging stopped being a selling point?
