Still sick, but I had some ideas lying in bed. Terrain gen is fixed!
The old system needed a terrain resolution of at least 256 for the desync between mesh and collision to not be obvious. The video below using the new system is running at a resolution of 8 and there is no noticeable desync. And obviously, that's free to generate no matter what machine you're on.
Although the terrain shader gets significantly uglier the lower the resolution.

Back to Asteroids, I added an exclamation sign when the enemy finds the player. Also, changed the dying SFX of this enemy to be a 'splash'. What do you think?
