> I've gotten back to the point where I'm leaving a platform. And this time it's #Bluesky – that once-promising alternative to Twitter that wanted to be a safe place for exchange, creativity, and respect. But what is happening there right now is anything but that.
> Bluesky wanted to be different. More open, more decentralized, more human. A place without trolls, without hate speech, without algorithmic manipulation. A network that should reconnect us. But what has become of it? A digital playground for those who shout the loudest – and have the least to say.
> The decisive moment came when the Trump administration – yes, you read that right, the US government itself – discovered Bluesky as "Buehne." Within a few days, 30 official accounts appeared, all verified, orchestrated, coordinated. And they didn't come to talk... but to provoke. To spread hatred. To hijack attention. And Bluesky had her punished... and used it to dig his own grave!
The capitulation to the system
> What is happening here is no coincidence. It's strategy. #Socialmedia is no longer just used by authoritarian systems – it is deliberately instrumentalized. What used to be the free office for the exchange of opinions is now a propaganda tool. And Bluesky made the same mistake Twitter made under Musk: They believed (at least in the beginning) that neutrality was "Staerke."
> But those who tolerate hate end up losing control or being assimilated... the completely crazy Tesla CEO is not just an example of this, but historically the absolute poster boy!

Great analysis by @kissane of what Trump government's arrival means for #Bluesky, how accidents (read: Elon Musk) shaped where and how Bluesky ended up now, and the differences between some communities' expectations of what they thought Bluesky would be and what the team designed it and want it to be, and where we go from here:
They are just kissing. 🤷♀️
Sure, they are naked, but no genitals, and most furry characters in art are naked. But i guess adding a kiss is too much for Bsky moderators.
Truly a Bluesky moment.

“Building resilient networks in 2025 means not just architecting against enshittification, but against authoritarianism… [to] factor in what happens to the entire open social ecosystem when app stores and governments align against it.”

@mastodonmigration You appear to be implying that #Mastodon regulars are politely disagreeing with others, such as newcomers, and respectfully asking people to do things such as consider decorum.
No.
That is not always what’s been happening.
What’s sometimes happening is nihilists, both-sides-ers, purity testers and other toxics are driving people off. Sometimes to #bluesky . People I used to follow here are there now, due to bullying and harassment, some I’ve seen myself.
